Having issues with my mom's dell.At first when I checked it out last week lights 3 and 4 were lit on the indicator. The system was running two 1Ghz sticks. I took one out and the system was able to post into windows.I figured the other stick must be bad. I bought ram, used but should still http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28803190-memory-dell-optiplex-755-sff-lights-3-and-4 be covered under g skill warranty. Installed and then nothing. No post.I switch around the ram, and it posts but then I get a BSOD. Something about bad pool header. I try switching in and out the old ram, the new ram, in various configurations.Right now, it's running one stick of 1Ghz, the old ram. Some dell diagnostic "preboot system assessment" is running. How can I see whether I have a motherboard problem or a ram issue? I do not have another system to test ddr2 ram on. · actions · 2013-Nov-9 3:04 pm · asdfdfdfdfdfPremium Memberjoin:2012-05-09 asdfdfdfdfdf Premium Member 2013-Nov-9 3:29 pm When you say you switched around the ram did you swap the stick you took out for the stick that was able to boot (i.e. did you try both sticks individually in the first slot)? Did they both boot alone in that particular slot?Did you try both sticks in the other 2 slots that were not used before? · actions · 2013-Nov-9 3:29 pm · Amoris692001This thread is worthless without picsPremium Memberjoin:2003-08-18Brooklyn, NY Amoris692001 Premium Member 2013-Nov-9 4:06 pm Yes. The diagnostic lights can appear either vertical or horizontal. Light Pattern Problem Description Suggested Resolution The computer is in a normal "off" condition, or a possible pre-BIOS failure has occurred. The diagnostic lights are lights 3 and not lit after the computer successfully boots to the operating system. Plug the computer into a working electrical outlet and press the power button. A possible BIOS failure has occurred; the computer is in the recovery mode. Run the BIOS Recovery utility, wait for recovery completion, and then restart the computer. A possible processor failure has occurred. Reinstall the processor and restart the computer. Memory modules are detected, but a memory failure has occurred. If you have one memory module installed, reinstall it and restart the computer. (see Memory for instructions on how to remove and install memory modules.) If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module, and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error. If available, install properly working memory of the same type into your computer. If the problem persists, contact Dell (see Contacting Dell).
