USB Flash WriteProtect Started by myyas , Apr 01 2015 06:13 AM Please log in to reply 5 replies to this topic #1 myyas myyas Members 13 posts OFFLINE Local time:01:44 AM Posted 01 April 2015 - 06:13 AM Suddenly, my PC "WriteProtect" any & every USB Flash or external HardDisk I plug into it. I've Googled the problem & tried the only 2 solutions I found. None worked. - regedit : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies - CMD : diskpart, list disk, etc. Some of the flashes I tried would work fine on other PCs ie: not write protected!!! If I plug them again into my PC, they become "WriteProtect"!!! My OS is Windows 8.1 Please help. Thank you. mYYas Back to top BC AdBot (Login to Remove) BleepingComputer.

That seems to device error surprise you? I'm now surprised by your surprise that would suggest it's not just a simple config issue then? No it doesn't suprise - I just didn't look at your screenshot in enough detail. The text that comes out wrong always stays in English and is hard-coded in vb6 to be standard MS Sans Serif 8pt. United Kingdom Posted 23 March 2013 - 07:41 PM Ok Steve sorry for the delay, here is the screenshot of v1.9.75 - you'll see 2x areas of font oversize: - 1. Filesystem and Overrides section. 2. Choose Folder button. This was run on my laptop, this version (1.9.75) and the later version (2.1.695) work perfectly on my desktop, confirming the laptop 'configuration' appears to be at issue here - but can't explain it based on your previous comments. This appears to be the only program that the 'issue' appears Edited by captain-midnight, 23 March 2013 - 07:42 PM. I found an 8gb USB flash drive that is from Dell. It says Dell Mentor Media on the front and a label on the back that says "Windows 7 Home Prem For Dell" When I stick it in my comp 2 drives come up, G and H. I was able to format G, but H says "This disk is write protected" so how can I format it? Googled and found HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\StorageDevicePolicies* Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0 In the Value Data Box. Press OK But I have no StorageDevicePolicies so that's a no go. Anyway to format it without having to download any program? As I still don't have Internet at my house.
