Could it be that you’re using a Clipper compiled program? If so, add SET CLIPPER=F:100 before https://sourceforge.net/p/vdos/discussion/xbase-clipper/thread/675eb2a1/ starting the program to autoexec.txt and see if that helps. I don't http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/receiving-error-dbfntx1001-open-error-filenamedbf/8cace296-b62d-43a4-9ac1-f9958451d10e totally remember the syntax, and I think a lot of it depends on what OS you're running this on (so more info would be helpful), but check in the CONFIG.SYS file in the root directory of your boot drive (it's a text dos error file), and find the line that says FILES=20 or some other low number and change it to something higher, like 99 or so. DOS applications had some goofy pre-allocation of file handles or something like that, so you cant just set that number to a large number else it'll chew up too much RAM. Good luck. And upgrade your app, it's for sure seen ROI many times over already! 0 Pimiento OP Best Answer robinthevenet Sep 9, 2015 at 9:52 UTC 1st dos error 4 Post Check to make sure that the specifiedfile exists. If the file is not in the directory where the application runs, use SET DEFAULT or SET PATH to make the file accessible or specify the full path name where the file can be found. In a network environment, make sure the application has the necessary rights to access the file. If the file is available only for read access, use the READONLY clause on the USE command. CA-Clipper's default error handler(Errorsys.prg) will set NETERR() to true (.T.) and will ask DBFNTX to default if the error was due to a sharing violation on the network.
