for a long time before the LED recognizes that a print command has been sent. Then it will take way more time than normal to process the job. Sometimes, it prints fine, but more often it goes into Error 22 and then a dialog pops up in Windows 2000. If I hit "continue" and then hit retry in the W2K dialog, it will sometimes go ahead and print properly. Other times, however, it will slightly garble some of the text, or print everything with a missing letter or number (i.e., every occurance of 6 or capital A is just a blank space). I've gone to the HP site and reloaded the driver. I've bought a new printer cable and tried that. I've made sure the connections to the LPT port and printer port are solid. Nothing's helped. Can you? Thanks in advance. PS: Your head-cleaning kit for the Epson 1270 worked wonders. Saved me a minimum $85 "just to take a look at it" bill from an authorized service center. Respond to this 0 http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/hpcodes.html You seem to have checked the middle 2... I would bet more likely formater as an incorrect computer setting shouldnt cause intermittant errors... thats not to rule out however that it couldnt . by Craig on Oct 16, 2004 at 1:05am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I would also check the setting for the computer port. On some of the older HP Printers when the port is set for ECP/EPP strange things happen. If you can set the port for Standard or Normal in the Bios and see if that helps. Also you may want to try a couple of DOS prints just to see if you can get the printer to behave as it does from windows. Being intermittent it will be difficult. Also try loading the HP III driver and see if that makes a difference. by dmzcompute on Oct 16, 2004 at 7:12am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Thanks for the tips. I've seen other comments about the Bios setting. But I only vaguely know what that is, and don't know how to access those commands. Is it some kind of DOS command? by unknown on Oct 16, 2004 at 8:27am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Bios is the hardware settings for your computer and depending on the computer and bios, there are different ways of getting to it. The link below gives the keystrokes on power on for most makes. http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturerfrm.htm by dmzcompute on Oct 16, 2004 at 9:05am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I got into the BIOS, but only found options for Bi-Directional and ECP.
