Binding error Hello- i am getting an https://forum.utorrent.com/topic/57802-udp-port-bind-failed/ error when trying to start WinSSHD. The service does not start.[015] WinSSHD 3.31a: Service terminated by exception: Socket: bind operation failed with error 10048Please advise. Christian Iwen Wednesday, November 07, 2007 Deleting… Approving… The error description of 10048 error code is as following:Only one usage of each socket address error 10048 (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.Usually this means that another application is binding to the port that WinSSHD is set to use (that's port 22 by default WinSSHD settings). If you're running Windows XP or newer, then in Command Prompt (cmd.exe) you can execute 'netstat -ano'. An example line:TCP 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 1256It means that process with PID (process ID) 1256 has binded to all bind error 10048 interfaces (0.0.0.0) on port 22, and is waiting for incoming connection (LISTENING). You can then open Task Managers (taskmgr.exe) and find the 1256 process that has taken the port that WinSSHD is set to use. Also, I would suggest an upgrade (however this is not at all related to the problem you're experiencing). Andrej Andolsek Wednesday, November 07, 2007 Deleting… Approving… Ok. I ran "taskkill /F /PID 3202" on my Windows 2003 Server, and that stopped the process that was using port 22.How can I see what process 3202 really is (more details)? I'd like to do some more troubleshooting on this. Also, when I uninstalled the software completely and reinstalled in my initial troubleshooting steps, I have lost the licensing for this server. Is there a way to get a replacement key for this 3.x version? Thanks,Christian Christian Iwen Wednesday, November 07, 2007 Deleting… Approving… Looks like our other support group installed OpenSSH Services software on the server too. This is what wat taking up port 22. I still need to get a replacement activation key for 3.x. Can you help me with how to get this?____________________________

The vulnerability appears to have been through one of the vendor’s other clients, however it allowed attackers to access some information on other accounts. As a result, attackers were able to download a list of our forum users. We are investigating further to learn if any other information was accessed. Our vendor has made backend changes so that the hashes in the file do not appear to be a usable attack vector. As a precaution, we are advising our users to change their passwords. While the passwords may not be used as a vector on the forums, those hashed passwords should be considered compromised. Anyone using the same password for forums as well as other places is strongly advised to update their passwords and/or practice good personal security practices.
