I just got a new Sony Vaio laptop with VISTA in order to use the Voice Recognition software. When I went to set up a microphone I was told to start the Windows Audio Service, but when I tried to do that I got the following error message: error: 1068 "dependency service or group failed to start" I have no idea what or where that service or group is. I'vestarted all the audio service products in the list but nothing seems to correct the problem. Anyone know the answer to this dilemma? After some screwing around I uninstalled by audio driver and restarted windows. The Plug and play sustem installed the driver and Viola! Sound!.
