Started by Chingy , Dec 08 2005 11:03 AM Please log in to reply 3 replies to this topic #1 Chingy Chingy Members 40 posts OFFLINE Local time:12:06 AM Posted the dependency service 08 December 2005 - 11:03 AM Alright in the last few weeks, this error has happened. When I go to control panel-->Security center, it sais it is not running and I need to enable it. When I go to services.msc, and try to enable it and my (Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)) it gives me this error. Cannot do this action on this local machine. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. I tryed going to registry making a new key, named Security Center and a new DWORD and changing the value to 1. This did not work. Then I tryed enabling all the services that needed that one to run. Everyone I could enable accept one process, which gave me another error 1717. Also under ALL my services, when I go to Properties--> the 4th tab "Dependancies" It gives me a Win32 error, which might be part of the problem. But basically, obviously whoever knows how to fix this needs to know alot. =p I've been dinking around googling it, but no luck. Anyways until I get this fixed, I dont have my secrutiy center running or a Firewall. (Windows XP built in firewal) which is my main concern, becasue I need my firewall. So yea, Thanks in advance and I'll continue to research this topic. Cheers, Dane Bac
