My laptop is connected to my home network wireless, and my x360 is connected to my laptop with a Ethernet cable. Now i can't turn on ICS. When I go to control panel-->Security center, it sais it is not running and I need to enable it. When I go to services.msc, and try to enable it and my (Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)) it gives me this error. Cannot do this action on this local machine. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. I tryed going to registry making a new key, named Security Center and a new DWORD and changing the value to 1. This did not work. Then I tryed enabling all the services that needed that one to run. Everyone I could enable accept one process, which gave me another error 1717. Also under ALL my services, when I go to Properties--> the 4th tab "Dependancies" It gives me a Win32 error, which might be part of the problem. But basically, obviously whoever knows how to fix this needs to know alot. =p I've been dinking around googling it, but no luck. Anyways until I

Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service?" I click "Yes." Then I get a message that "Windows cannot start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Services (ICS) service." I tried doing the Network Setup Wizard, and everything appears fine then. i dont really have any clue if i can be fixed but im hoping that someone can help me please!!! bryce81085, Oct 12, 2005 #1 Sponsor surveyranger Joined: Apr 20, 2005 Messages: 249 goto 'administrative tools' in the control panel. click 'services', then scroll down to 'Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)'. what does it say to the right of it? now double-click it. a window should pop up with different tabs. if you are not sure what the settings are, then don't change any and ask first. it should say it's startup type= automatic and service type=started. also, look under the dependencies tab for the dependent services and make sure they're started as well. also, under the recovery tab, change the failure options to 'restart the service' hope that helps ya surveyranger, Oct 12, 2005 #2 Paladin-X Joined: Dec 9, 2004 Messages: 296 Try this: Start => Run => Type netsh winsock reset then click ok.
