I liked it, but wanted Ultimate for reasons of the Media Center so I can connect to my Xbox 360 so I upgraded. http://superuser.com/questions/989645/what-services-are-required-for-having-audio-in-windows-7 Anyways, since last night when I installed it, which worked flawlessly, well besides the audio. I've tried using dell.com for the audio device drivers and tried google a few times now which is how I found this site. I cannot find error 1068 a liable solution, and it's almost driving me insane. I've tried the dell support driver page which was of no real help. I tried both the Sigmatel Stac 92XX C-Major HD Audio driver and Creative Labs integrated sound blaster Audigy advanced hd audio driver on their page. I've tried going to services and manual starting the "Windows Audio Service" and only get an error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. I was on the support website for sigmatel they told me windows audio service to uninstall and reinstall the driver (which you for some reason cannot get off their website or partner) so I'm getting it again from Dell.com. I'll be back in a few seconds to say if it works or not...must restart. Edit: Running on... Dell XPS M1710 Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit 2.00 GHz Duo core T7200 2 GB RAM Sigmatel High Definition Audio CODEC verison 5.10.0.4995 (the one from the Dell.com website.) The "Windows Audio Service" still is not starting. It is set to try again after a failed attempt twice. Windows Audio Endpoint Builder will not start either. It gets Error 0x80070002: The system cannot find the file specified. I'm stuck completely, and I'm very computer literate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. jer_stud56 View Public Profile Send a private message to jer_stud56 Find all posts by jer_stud56 #3 04-24-2007, 01:12 PM jer_stud56 Offline Registered User Join Date: Apr 2007 Posts: 5 still have yet to find a solution to this. Been googling for a few days now and still haven't found anything to fix. Anyone know why Windows Audio Service will not turn on? jer_stud56 View Public Profile Send a private message to jer_stud56 Find all

After rebooting, I found out that I don't have audio. At the taskbar, there is a small audio icon with a red "X". Hovering over the icon shows that "The Audio Service is not running". I went to Control Panel->Services and tried to start the "Windows Audio" service, but got an error: "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start". I tried to start the "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder" and got: "Error 1722: The RPC server is unavailable". The services called "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)", "Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator" and "RPC Endpoint Mapper" are all started. What more services do I need running in order to start the Windows Audio service? windows-7 audio services share|improve this question asked Oct 21 '15 at 8:30 Erel Segal-Halevi 43561025 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted +50 Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management. In the left frame, under "Computer Management (local)", "Services and Applications", choose "Services". Right-click on "Windows Audio", and choose the Dependencies tab. Some services are mentioned; to the left of a service, there can be a plus sign that can be used to expand a service and show further dependencies. On my Win7 system that has Audio running, Dependencies are: Multimedia Class Scheduler (No further dependencies) Remote Procedure Call (RPC) DCOM Server Process Launcher (No further dependencies) RPC Endpoint Mapper (No further dependencies) Windows Audio Endpoint Builder Plug and Play (No
