Error 1068 The Dependency Service Or Group Failed To Start Print Spooler
This of course blew away my folder shares and my users can't print. This is the Primary DC and the DC seems to be functioning, at least in part, correctly. Any ideas? Windows Server 2003 SP2.Thanks ahead of time.Michael. Generally speaking, Net Logon service has 2 dependency services (Server and Workstation). As you said, your users are experiencing share folder and printer issues. This leads me to believe that the issue might be caused by server service failure. According to the error message, I have found the following KB article about Server Service Failure. Server Service Fails with System Error 8 or System Error 234 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175529 In addition, there are some other KBs that describe Net logon failure. The Net logon service does not start and event IDs 2114 and 7024 are logged in Windows Server 2003 and in Windows 2000 Server http://support.microsoft.com/kb/269375 Netlogon Service Does Not Start, Event Viewer Records Events 2114 and 7024 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/284850 Please try the above KB's resolutions and let me know the result. What are the names of the services you are dealing with? Double click the service - go to the "Dependencies" tab - Check the service names list under "This service depends on the following system components" and then make sure that all the services listed there are already started. For example, if you're trying to start a service which has dependency on "Windows firewall" service, you need to first make sure Windows firewall service is STARTED. I put a DC on that site to help with that issue a few years ago. I logged into the server and noticed that Netlogon & Windows http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/36330-42-logon-services-stopped Time would not start. The error Netlogon gives when trying to start it is; "Could not start the Net Logon service on Local Computer. Error 1075: The dependency service does not error 1068 exist or has been marked for deletion." I also see Error 1110 with a source of Userenv in the event logs. I've searched high and low and cannot find a solution. I tried turning off all 3rd party services and rebooting, no luck. I also tried demoting and promoting its DC membership. I ran a few diagnostic checks and the outputs have been the dependency service attached. The only issue I can think of is DNS. I had to manually create the SRV records for this and another remote DC. The other remote DC is working normally. http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/469410/repl.txt http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/469410/netdiag_fix.log http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/469410/NetDiag.log http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/469410/dcdiag.log

Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Netlogon/ In the right pane, double-click the DependOnService value . In the Multi-String Editor dialog box, type the following strings on separate lines, and then click OK: LanmanServer LanmanWorkstation Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer. The Net
