Solved message queuing service not starting up Posted on 2004-12-20 Windows 2000 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 4,722 Views Last Modified: 2008-01-09 Hi, I have a https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/905999 Windows 2000 Server with SP4. There is a program installed on the server which relies on the message queuing service, but this service is not starting up. Whenever i try and start it i get the error "Could not start the message queuing service on local computer. The service did not return an error". I don't know much about the message queuing service. I've given the server https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21248262/message-queuing-service-not-starting-up.html a reboot but this did not solve the problem. In the event log i also found these error messages: Message Queuing was unable to join the local Windows 2000 domain. Hresult - c00e0075h. Unable to complete messaging queuing setup. Hresult - c00e0075h A search on technet reveals that this problem is due to the service being installed when the server is in a workgroup rather than the domain, but this is not the case. I haven't got a clue where to look next so any ideas??!! 0 Question by:ukznmcl Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 12 Best Solution byvalicon In order for the message queuing service to function on the domain when installed on a DC, the person that installed it must be a member of the Domain Admins group. It doesn't guarantee MSMQ IS installed in AD-integrated mode. MSMQ will install in workgroup mode if: AD integration was not selected as a setup option AD integration was selected but failed to initialise; check event logs Yes, the workgroup name is confusing in a domain member situation. I checked the logs and found that MSMQ was detecting a previous MSMQ configuration conflicted with it working with AD. I had installed MSMQ, and later enabled the AD integration. I completely uninstalled MSMQ, and then reinstalled it with everything (AD integration included), and I stopped getting the error. Your comment describes the answer that worked for me: not only did I have to add the extra MSMQ components, I had to uninstall MSMQ completely first to get it to work properly.
