Hence I need to know which services I need to enable/start so that I can turn on ICS. I found out all the dependencies: Application Layer Gateway Service http://superuser.com/questions/390379/what-are-all-the-dependencies-for-the-windows-service-internet-connection-shari Network Connections Network Location Awareness (NLA) Plug And Play Remote Access Auto Connection Manager Remote Access Connection Manager Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Telephony Then I had to set those all to "Automatic", and make sure all their respective dependencies are at least set to "Manual" and not Disabled", and restart my computer. After restarting my computer, the "Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" service was started. windows-7 internet-connection services dependencies share|improve this question edited Mar 30 '12 at 7:48 tombull89 5,63963454 asked Feb 15 '12 at 20:58 techaddict 1,16451530 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote They should be listed on the "Dependencies" tab in the properties of the service: Even though it's for XP, perhaps check out this MS Article: "Error 1068" Error Message When You Try to Turn On Internet Connection Sharing. Also perhaps ensure any 3rd party anti-malware/firewall are disabled/uninstalled and see if that helps any. share|improve this answer edited Feb 15 '12 at 21:21 answered Feb 15 '12 at 21:01 Ƭᴇcʜιᴇ007 85k12118175 I verified that those four services are started, yet it still gives the same error that the dependencies failed to start. Anyway from my experience I know that not all dependencies are actually listed there

Started by Chingy , Dec 08 2005 11:03 AM Please log in to reply 3 replies to this topic #1 Chingy Chingy Members 40 posts OFFLINE Local time:03:03 AM Posted 08 December 2005 - 11:03 AM Alright in the last few weeks, this error has happened. When I go to control panel-->Security error 1068 no center, it sais it is not running and I need to enable it. When I go to services.msc, and try to enable it and my (Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)) it gives me this error. Cannot do this action on this local machine. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. I tryed going to registry making a new key, named Security Center and a new DWORD and changing the value to 1. This did not work. Then I tryed enabling all the services that needed that one to run. Everyone I could enable accept one process, which gave me another error 1717. Also under ALL my services, when I go to Properties--> the 4th tab "Dependancies" It gives me a Win32 error, which might be part of the problem. But basically, obviously whoever knows how to fix this needs to know alot. =p I've been dinking around googling it, but no luck. Anyways until I get this fixed, I dont have my secrutiy center running or a Firewall. (Windows XP built in firewal) which is my main concern, becasue I need my firewall. So yea, Thanks in advance and I'll continue to research this topic.
