My laptop runs vista and recently I got a malware posing as a security program that seems to have disabled my windows firewall. I have since cleaned my system, but the firewall kept giving me the "1068: dependancy service or group failed to start" error. I tried the advice error 1068 you gave the person in the closed thread about the same problem but my problem seems to come from a slightly different error from his. I used the steps in that topic and the following images show the results I got. When I go to the event viewer, like you mentioned in the topic, it brings up this... Ok, i should start by saying I just resently did a Hard drive swap, and this is when this problem started. Everything seems to work perfect.. except this. I noticed when i went to watch a movie on my Xbox (streamed from wmp) that it now says, Lost connection to Computer. So i opened up Windows Media Player and went to select Media Sharing and click ok, and it just freezes there for about 10-15 seconds then unfreezes and nothing happens. However when i try to start the service it comes up with this. "The Universal Plug and Play Device Host service on Local Computer was started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service." So i thought, ok i guess that sounds fine. Then lastly, in the services, i also was told to scroll down further untill i got to Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. Go into it, set it to automatic and start it. However, when i go to start the service, i get this error. "Could not start the Windows MEdia Player Network Sharing Service service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start" Upon further investigation online, i found that this is cause
