It displays a menu of different kernel choices and the first one (and 2nd which is recovery mode) always fails with this error. Been running it for a quite a while with no problems. 32bit Ubuntu 10.10, kernel 2.6.35-23-generic is giving me the problems Ubuntu 10.10, kernel 2.6.35-22-generic works fine but seems slow. Thought it might be a MBR type of error and ran Rescatux (like super grub disk) basically restored MBR and no change. Error first appeared when I was having trouble getting a thumb drive to load. plugged it in and out a number of times and it never mounted. upon reboot (to see if that would fix the mounting problem) it gave th

I can mount the NTFS drive and I can mount sdb2 if I https://www.redhat.com/archives/rhl-list/2007-October/msg01728.html don't specify the filesystem type. That's where Grub is in a folder with the 2 kernel config, initrd, systme.map and vmlinuz files. I haven't figured out how to mount the sdb1 partition and the sdb3 LVM partition claims to be mounted already although I don't know where to look for it. Maybe it will mount if I try a link. I have 2 OSes installed on my https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=132480 desktop: Arch Linux and Windows. I've googled a lot in order to solve my problem, but there is no appreciate suggestions. I've tried to use "savedefault=false" in my menu.lst - didn't help. I fsck'ed my disks - it said there are no problems in my partitions. I use ext4. Here is my menu.lst:# general configuration:timeout 5default 0color light-blue/black light-cyan/blue# (0) Arch Linuxtitle Arch Linux testroot error 16 (hd0,4)kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda6 ro vga=773initrd /kernel26.img# (1) Arch Linux# title Arch Linux Fallback# root (hd0,4)# kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda6 ro# initrd /kernel26-fallback.img # (2) Memory test utilitytitle Memtest86+ [/boot/memtest86+/memtest.bin]kernel (hd0,4)/boot/memtest86+/memtest.bin# (3) Windowstitle Windowsrootnoverify (hd0,0)makeactivechainloader +1Any suggestions, please? Could this be a zero-length partinion?I've decided to check this dev because grub prints some similar errors while starting. It seems strange for me because /dev/fd0 is floppy drive device, but I haven't this one. (don't remember when) kernel26 has been changed to linux, so your kernel line should be vmlinuz-linux and initrd should be initramfs-linux.img Offline #4 2011-12-26 13:42:59 b4data Member Registered: 2010-12-14 Posts: 141 Re: [solved] Error 16: Inconsistent filesystem structure since ...
