You can check as following steps first check each pc is in the same workgroup. disable the firewall and virus protect in each PC. Ping PC2 from PC1 to ensure the network is ok net view \PC2 from PC1 to check if it is ok. share|improve this answer edited Dec 4 '12 at 7:48 answered Dec 3 '12 at 3:28 ray_linn 1,145613 Firewall and my antivirus are off/disabled. two years without issue. it is connected via ethernet to a gigabit switch which is connected to an e1200 router running dd-wrt firmware. I use a windows home server to store all my https://community.wd.com/t/can-not-access-network-shares-net-view-turns-up-error-6118-cant-set-master-browser/47005 files. I ran v1 untill a month ago when I changed to whs 2011. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r23937413-Solved-System-error-6118-has-occurred there are a couple of win 8 computers as well as one win 7 and a few randome devices on the network. I have never had any trouble viewing and using network shares untill two days ago. up untill that point all my pc's would show under network shares on the wdtv and I was able to error 6118 access any sharded folders. two days ago all but one pc was missing. I read numerous post about the issue and it seems I have a master browser problem. I found tony's excelent turioal. the problem with that is when I do net view on any of my pc's I get the following "System error 6118 has occurred. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available" it should be system error 6118 noted that ALL shared folders on the server are accesable from all other pcs! the only thing that can't see them is the wdtv. I can even "net view \server" and see the sharded folders yet normal net view command shows the 6118 error. I have set computer bwroser service to automatic on the server and manual on the other machines. I also did the registry edit to try and force the server to be the master browser HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\ParametersDouble click on MaintainServerListSet to Yes I even set it to NO on the other pc's. nothing has worked! sometimes a different pc shows up under network shares but never the server. the only firewall on any of the machines is the windows one. all sharing is set to "everyone", file and printer sharing is on etc. again I can access all folders from all pc's just not the wdtv. TonyPh12345 2013-01-02 19:23:52 UTC #2 Since you're using WDLXTV, you should be able to shell into the WD. You can execute the command smbtree which should show you the list of servers that are registered to the master browser. If it doesn't work, then you have NO functioning master browser. Try shutting down every single device on your network except for your router. Then reboot the server. The serv

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available The above error message has been driving me up a wall today. In a nutshell no work station on the LAN is able to access the list of available works stations that are part of Workgroup. This is usually done through Windows Explorer, My Network Places, Entire Network, Microsoft Windows Network, Workgroup (from the command line, "net view").Now accessing mapped drives works fine and so does connecting to a share by entering \\target_share. It appears that no server or work station is delegated as a master browser and maintaining this list.I searched around for answers and came across this thread which contains quite a few recommendations, but none worked. And of those recommendations the majority applied to a single computer having an issue, not every work station on the LAN.The only remaining thing I haven't tried at this point is seeing what happens when the majority of work systems is powered down at the end of the day. After all this only started happening recently so some change must of been introduced to cause this.EDIT:As it turns out it was the CentOS box. A quick adjustment to the smb.conf and all is running smoothly again. · actions · 2010-Mar-11 6:20 pm · BinkVillains... knock off all that eviljoin:2006-05-14Castle Rock, COkudos:4 Bink Member 2010-Mar-11 6:34 pm Re: System error 6118 has occurred. This is a legacy technology and should not be relied upon. · actions · 2010-Mar-11 6:34 pm · PhilRojo SolPremium Memberjoin:2001-06-11Downers Grove, ILkudos:2 P
