The really strange thing is, this error only occurs when I create a certain object in the said applet method. Specifically, I have a class I created in the GWT "shared" folder, which serializes a http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4458581/error-calling-method-on-npobject-when-calling-java-applet-method-from-gwt-client class into a JSON string from an instance of this class within the client javascript. The Java applet also instanciates this class in java space, within the said method. When I don't attempt to instanciate this class within the applet method, it runs and returns no problem. Shouldn't the java instanciation be totally independant of GWT? Also, I wonder why i'm not getting a stack trace in my java console if this exception is occurring within java. Not sure if this is relevant, but I'm using the GWTAI project for Applet->JavaScript callbacks TIA for any responses, Phaedrus 02:40:22.848 [ERROR] [u] Uncaught exception escaped com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (Error): Error calling method on NPObject. stack: Error: Error calling method on NPObject. at [object Object]. I managed to make everything work OK error calling method if I make a button and call openport(); and startTimer();. However if I call openport(); from onload or in any part of my html without a user interaction, I got Uncaught Error: Error calling method on NPObject in that function openport();. I suppose it is some kind of security feature or some signed java program? Does anyone know how to solve this? Is there maybe some way to set any browser for to allow this code to start? thank you Dorijan java javascript serial-port share|improve this question edited Mar 28 '14 at 13:57 dsolimano 6,10832746 asked Apr 10 '12 at 23:13 user899119 159420 add a comment| active oldest votes Know someone who can answer? My applet runs correctly when I run it straight out of Eclipse and here is the code: Code: import java.applet.*; import java.io.*; public class uploader extends Applet { public String[][] listfiles(String loc) { File folder = new File(loc); String[] contents = folder.list(); String[][] fullcontent = new String[contents.length + 1][2]; int i = 0; File temp; fullcontent[fullcontent.length - 1][0] = "This worked"; while(i < contents.length) { temp = new File(folder + contents[i]); fullcontent[i][0] = contents[i]; if(temp.isDirectory()) { fullcontent[i][1] = "dir"; } else { fullcontent[i][1] = "file"; } i++; } return fullcontent; } public void init() { } } It's fairly straightforward. The code reads the contents of any given folder on a client's filesystem and returns their filenames. I'm trying to use this applet to upload multiple files or even folders to a server. What I'd like to do with this is for the java applet to be a sort of bridge between the client's file and the php that will then upload all the files. I'm not sure if it will work the way I want it to but first I have to figure out how to get permission to view the user files. I've tried various things that involve using the keytool and jarsigner commands and up to now cannot get it to work. Essentially, this applet is embedded in a web page with the following contents: Code:
