Hello all. I am simply trying to use javascript to SetVariable to a flash document, however whenever I try I get "Error calling method on NPObject" (using Firefox, error may be different in other browsers). I can't find a THING on this (nothing relevant anyway). The relevant line is "flash.SetVariable(var_name, var_val);" (flash is a var containing the document.getElementById. It shouldn't be the function name, because I took the code (and dunction name) from a working example (this is for a production product, so I will rewrite the example code once I get it actually working). The method is symcBFPerformOnDOMChangedHandler. This is an error message specific to Firefox so it only happens on that browser. It happens sporadically for some of our users and unfortunately I haven't been able to replicate it. However, from the stack trace I did figure out that error calling method it comes from https://github.com/emberjs/ember.js/blob/master/packages/ember-routing/lib/location/history_location.js#L162, i.e. the line get(this, 'history').replaceState(state, null, path); of the file history_location.js. Firefox is exposing its window objects through NPObject interface, I'm assuming including window.history, so I'm not even sure if this is a bug in Ember.js or in Firefox itself. Given how little information I have about the bug, I'm not sure how much this issue is worth. But I thought I'd post it anyway in the case someone else has encountered similar issues or knows more about it. Ember.js member stefanpenner commented Sep 18, 2015 My first inclination is that this sounds like a FF issue. Although as you mentioned, without further info. I don't know what we can do... zourtney commented Feb 9, 2016 Any luck pinning this down? I'm using a different tech stack, but experiencing the same symptoms. In my case, it also seems related to window.history manipulation. Equivalent offending code, angular.js/browser.js#145: history[replace ? 'replaceState' : 'pushState'](state, '', url); YoranBrondsema commented Feb 10, 2016 I think the fact
Javascript, you probably have. It can be pretty frustrating the first time you see this error since it's not very informative. In my experience, this happened when I was trying to communicate with actionscript via Javascript using ExternalInterface call. The problem was sure enough a security issue with Flash. The solution for "Error calling method on NPObject!" is to add: System.security.allowDomain("mydomain.com"); Add this to the Flash file you're communicating with. Keep in mind that www.mydomain.com is different from mydomain.com to Flash. About Bill iOS, Ruby on Rails developer in Los Angeles, CA.
