In order for it to work, select Emerald as your window decorator. You will also need to enable the Window Decorations plugin (via CCSM). As a window decorator, Emerald controls the appearance of your window borders; please see your desktop environment's own theme settings if you wish to change the appearance of things inside windows, such as buttons, menus and scrollbars. There are quite a few nice themes at Compiz-Themes.org. Alternatively, you can double-click on the files in a file manager, and Emerald will open the Import dialog. Options Themes Select a theme from the list and your window decorations should change immediately (or after reloading Emerald, in some cases). You can edit any theme easily, for instance to change the shadow or title font, but you can also go into more complicated aspects of customization, such as adjusting the colors and opacities, or even replacing the titlebar buttons with your own. Join Date Sep 2007 Beans 50 https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1727275 Confusion about Compiz, Emerald and how they work Dear all, This evening, I tried to install Emerald on my Ubuntu 10.10 to get some vista look on my windows decorations. After installing the Emerald Themer, I did run the command "emerald --replace" and I did get a transparent windows decoration however there was no way for me to change it. I tried, double click, single click, triple click and so on on Emerald themer but I could not change my windows Decoration. I played around with ccsm, still didn't manage to solve the problem. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?? Meanwhile, I would like to ask those involved in development of Gnome to give me a quick intro on how actually all these work. I am really confused about how they actually decorate and control. Once I engage Emarald now my "windows Move" configuration set in Compiz start to work but if I run "metacity --replace" then none of those animations work. Although before installing Emerald they worked with metacity. Please, any help and guidance is much appreciated. Thank you and sorry for the long description.
