Hello all. I am simply trying to use javascript to SetVariable to a flash document, error calling however whenever I try I get "Error calling method on NPObject" (using Firefox, error may be different in other browsers). I can't find a THING on this (nothing relevant anyway). The relevant line is "flash.SetVariable(var_name, var_val);" (flash is a var containing the document.getElementById. Any ideas? Help is HUGELY appreciated... I've been stuck on this for over a week! Reply With Quote 02-17-2006,01:05 AM #2 blah1985 View Profile View Forum Posts IE Gives me error calling method a headache... I know it sounds crazy but it sometimes works(reserverd strings) if that does not work gemme some more code oh BTW http://www.mozilla.org/projects/plug....html#NPObject What???? It shouldn't be the function name, because I took the code (and dunction name) from a working example (this is for a production product, so I will rewrite the example code once I get it actually working). When I use this line: Code: if(document.GWFlash) document.GWFlash.SetVariable(\"time\", \"1\"); I get an error. This tells me that the object EXISTS (and is definetly the intended flash object) however, for some reason SetVariable will not work.... Anyone have any ideas? Could it have to do with my flash? As always, help is appreciated EDIT: So, I continued to work on it a bit, and the perplexity o

Thanks. This forum is a community forum meant for users of the plugin to collaborate and help solve issues with implementation, etc. Unfortunately, as the creator of the plugin, I do not have much time to attend to every request here as this is only a side project and I must work a full-time job to provide for my family. This is how I keep the Flash version free and the HTML5 version low cost. Bugs - Uploadify Error calling method on NPObject Mauro July 2010 I've red lots of unresolved posts on this issue. While everything works fine on a local installation, with a remote server both uploadifyUpload() and uplodifyCancel() issue this JS error (FF, IE and Chrome).I spent hours, changed configuration files and everything, but I could not figure out why.The only workaround I've found is to set 'auto': true in the embedding configuration, so that I do not have to invoke uploadifyUpload(),this way the upload starts and completes correctly! This makes me think that the issue is an uploadify problem, as the upload works, just I can't invoke uploadifyUpload().As to cancel, I completely remove the flash object and embed it again.I really don't like it, but at least this way it works.I hope this issue can be solved differently. Thanks for any help. TravisN. July 2010 The issue is Javascript, but when ever I have looked into the issue, I have always found it to be something the programmer has written incorrectly. It has been syntax, using the wrong version of uploadify, or placing uploadify in a div that is hidden until needed.I know it sounds like I'm fobbing it back to the you the web developer, but the issue lies in the client side javascript. I have found safari's development tools the easiest to find the source of the problem. Mauro July 2010 Thanks TravisN for you reply. As i said, everything works fine on a local installation of Uploadify but with a remote server both uploadifyUpload() and uplodifyCancel() issue the error. If it were a javascript error, I think it should'nt work
