When the code runs, I get the error "Error: uncaught exception: Error calling method on NPObject!" From my day's worth of googling around, this seems to be be a security matter, and I've done everything I can find, but the error still comes up. Some details: * This happens with both Flash 9 and Flash 10 players. * The swf is in the same domain as the php

file that loads it and that contains the javascript that's trying to call the Flash function. * I'm using sfwobject2.2 to load the swf file, like so: var flashvars = {};
var params = {};
var params = {menu: false, bgcolor: "#ffffff", allowScriptAccess: "always"};
swfobject.embedSWF("/path/to/swf", "id", "480", "310", "9.0.0", null, flashvars, params, attributes); My Flash movie is doing the allowDomain thing, correctly as far as I can tell: Security.allowDomain("www.mydomain.com"); * I know that the ExternalInterface.addCallback is set up properly -- when I disable it, I get a "no such function" error instead of the NPObject complaint. This is driving me completely crazy, and I just can't figure out how to correct it. Any advice out there? javascript flash externalinterface share|improve this question asked Sep 13 '09 at 18:45 Jim Miller Did you ever find an answer? Mine was that I was not sending in the correct number of arguments for the function it was calling. share|improve this answer answered Oct 26 '10 at 21:30 UltimateBrent 8,89693346 2 Did you find a good document that outlines the

The Javascript works great when it is located http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1038668/cross-domain-externalinterface-error-calling-method-on-npobject on the same domain as the SWF. But in one case, the HTML resides on domain A, the javascript and the flash both reside on domain B. I have done all of the following: The embed tag has allowScriptAccess="always" (and the object has that as a param) My SWF file's actionscipt has Security.allowDomain("*") My SWF also calls Security.allowInsecureDomain("*") Both domain A and domain B have a /crossdomain.xml file which has allow-access-from domain="*" The SWF is able to call javascript on the page, but when I use Javascript to call functions exposed by ExternalInterface, I get Error calling method on NPObject! [plugin exception: Error in Actionscript. Use a try/catch block to find error.] This is ActionScript 2 so ExternalInterface.marshallExceptions is not available. javascript flash actionscript-2 externalinterface share|improve this question edited May 24 '12 at 15:50 lord_t 1,93121536 asked Jun 24 '09 at 14:17 Josh 8,39774489 Are you loading up more than one swf? Or is a swf on domain

Is it possible that this error comes from some newrelic.jar class ? tdoherty 2014-07-07 15:33:00 UTC #3 Hi Daniel, It is difficult to say https://discuss.newrelic.com/t/error-calling-method-on-npobject/2964 what might be causing this. But as an initial troubleshooting step, lets try to eliminate some of your browswer addons. Can you try use Chrome in Incognito mode, or with all addons disabled and see if this helps? Please let us know how that goes for you. Also, it would be very useful to know if your page has any adds in it, Google, Bing etc. Tom daniel_goldberg 2014-07-07 18:21:31 error calling UTC #4 Hi Tom, thanks for reply.We don't have any addon in our page. I could not reproduce the error. I tested the page with IE, Firefox and Chrome (Mac and Windows environment) and nothing happens but in our page, in the last six hours, we had 65 NPObject error.We only have one js library (Strophe - https://github.com/strophe/strophejs) but it doesn't need any flash file. Do you have additional information error calling method about this error in our app? alexis 2014-07-08 16:40:04 UTC #5 To help us investigate this further, can you provide a URL to the page on your site where you're seeing this error occur? That way we can take a look at how the New Relic monitoring scripts are being injected and what they may be interacting with. NPObject is not only used for Flash or Actionscript (although this is a very common case where it appears); it's an interface to any foreign (non-Javascript) code. It also would be helpful if you could provide a permalink to the application your site is reporting to in New Relic. To create a permalink to any page within the New Relic user interface, scroll to the bottom and click 'Permalink ∞' all the way on the right next to 'Kiosk Mode.' This will show us the exact page and time period that you are observing. It's safe to post a permalink on the forum; only New Relic staff and users with existing access to your account will be able to use it. daniel_goldberg 2014-07-08 19:08:51 UTC #6 Hi Alexis, It's not possible to give you a link now, only certain users could access to this part of the site.
