each question. But a few of the quizzes instead feature animated .SWF files. I want to use jquery swfobject to call the play() method, once the user has clicked on an answer. My solution works fine locally, but when I try to run it online, it throws the "Error calling method on NPObject!" message. The quiz HTML is located on www.somedomain.com and the SWFs are on images.somedomain.com. So, I'm guessing this is a cross-domain thing. Trouble for me is, I don't know anything about Flash... how to edit SWF files, anything about Flash attributes, or the like. Here's an example of my code:

If I use eval on window.document.flash_object.func() it throws "NPMethod called on non-NPObject wrapped JSObject". Where as, if I define a javascript function in side the page as given below: function myFunc() { return flash_object.func(); } and later do a eval of window.document.myFunc() it works fine. I am running the two evals through a test framework called Selenium. [eval(window.document.flash_object.func()) and eval(window.document.myFunc())]. The issues seems to be issue with invoking the flash-object method without passing 'this' reference. Here is sample html/js code to reproduce this issue: "NPMethod called on non-NPObject wrapped JSObject". script function changeColor() { mymovie.changeColor(); } function getColorNP() { var func = mymovie.getColor; func(); } getColorNP throws the exception Error: NPMethod called on non-NPObject wrapped JSObject! Source File: http://my.host/Colors/colors.html getColorNP throws the exception Error: NPMethod called

Hello all. I am simply trying to use javascript to SetVariable to a flash document, however whenever I error calling try I get "Error calling method on NPObject" (using Firefox, error may be different in other browsers). I can't find a THING on this (nothing relevant anyway). The relevant line is "flash.SetVariable(var_name, var_val);" (flash is a var containing the document.getElementById. Any ideas? It shouldn't be the function name, because I took the code (and dunction name) from a working example (this is for a production product, so I will rewrite the example code once I get it actually working). When I use this line: Code: if(document.GWFlash) document.GWFlash.SetVariable(\"time\", \"1\"); I get an error. This tells me that the object EXISTS (and is definetly the intended flash object) however, for some reason SetVariable will not work.... Anyone have any ideas? Could it have to do with my flash? As always, help is appreciated EDIT: So, I continued to work on it a bit, and the perplexity of the problem increases: I tried to use an example of the
