This occurs on a Windows Storage Server 2003 SP2 32-bit server. The machine has 2-gb of RAM (older server and was deployed before I worked here). The article discusses fixing an issue when trying to backup large volumes; but when you read the details, it seems like it could be related (Insufficient system resources exist to complete the reqeusted service). The article describes a way to check your system is affected by the issue, and some registry changes that may correct the behavior I have not implemented this yet. The issue occurs only on a production system (the dev is unaffected). We are still assessing. "Cannot copy [filename]: insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service." error appears. To solve this you may have to change two registry settings. You must always change http://itowns.blogspot.com/2012/09/cannot-copy-filename-insufficient.html the first setting. Depending on the configuration of your system, you may http://forum.sysinternals.com/insufficient-system-resources-windows-server-2003_topic15665.html also have to change the second setting. First setting: Open regedit navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\ create new DWORD Value registry keyPoolUsageMaximum, set value to60decimal. If after restart the problem still persists do the second setting. Second setting: Open regedit navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\ create new DWORD Value registry keyPagedPoolSize, error copying set value toFFFFFFFFHexadecimal. Restart the server and try to copy the file. One share contains roaming profiles for 500+ users, the other share contains like 250 PST files which sizes varies from 100K to almost 1.9GB (110 GB total)4) Also has installed HP Digital Sending Software, Dell OpenManage Server Administrator and Symantec Antivirus. The problem: After a few hours of being restarted, the server is unable to copy large files (locally from one partition to another), and I'm getting the error "Insufficient System Resources" however Task Manager is showing that the server is using less that 1GB of the total 24GB it has. (The OS is running in /PAE mode)There are NO events on the event log about paged pools or nonpaged pools being empty.Other symptoms are: If a large file can't be copied, it can't also be opened. If the file is a PST, Outlook says that the file could not be opened. However other files of the same size or larger could already be opened and shown on "/Share Folders/Open Files". If one of these files is closed, then another could be opened (or copied) in it's place. Finally, a remote desktop connection (administrative) doesn't always work, when I hit connect, it may do nothing and I will have to retry several times until it loads. So far I haven't received any reports of any of the print queues failing, roaming profiles not loading, or the DHCP not working.Restarting the server doesn't fix the problem. What I need: Someway to troubleshoot the problem, tools that could help me to identify if there is a memory leak, or why the server is running out of "system resources"The Server must be
