Error Copying File or Folder Started error copying file or folder the requested resource is in use by k_tec12 , May 02 2011 01:42 PM Please log in to reply 10 replies to this topic #1 k_tec12 k_tec12 Members 33 posts OFFLINE Local time:10:14 PM Posted 02 May 2011 - 01:42 PM Running server 2003, i have about six departments storing their information on the the server, these six departments have their own departmental folder on the server where they can store their own information, which is only able to be viewed by the employees of that specific department. employees are able to copy and/or save directly to their respective departmental folder. however one the departmental folder is not allowing the users to copy or save information to their departmental folder; keep getting the following message :"Error Copying File or Foldercannot copy -------:Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use." i checked and double check all of the permissions still nothing. any help/assistance that can be given will be greatly appreciated.. Joined: Mar 3, 2008 Messages: 10 I have set up a home network, Desktop PC running error copying file or folder the device is unreachable Windows XP sp2, Laptop running Vista Home Premium, The Laptop can see the desktop SharedDocs folders and print to the printer, the Desktop can error copying file or folder the directory or file cannot be created see the Laptop folders but I cannot drop any files in the folders, all I receive is the error message: Error Copying File or Folder Cannot copy "File Name" Access is denied Make sure the disk is not full or http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/395068/error-copying-file-or-folder/ write protected and that the file is not currently in use. On the Laptop I click on Start - Network - Laptop icon, I cannot drop any files into any folders: ie Public - Users, or any of them, all I receive is the error message: You need permission to perform this action. I am the Administrator on the Laptop and Desktop ie: the only user, how do I obtain the permission. (File Server)Issue:Consulting company created a folder that is shared on the File Server. The folder name is called Data and the Permissions are set to List Folder Contents.
