Why here it is showing three GLIBC versions 2.14, 2.15 and 2.16. ?? Does it mean that any of these three versions can be installed ?? I already have libc.so.6 installed by bash-4.1# rpm -qf /lib64/libc.so.6 glibc-2.12-1.132.el6.x86_64. bash-4.1# rpm -ivh libtirpc-0.2.4-0.3.el7.x86_64.rpm warning: libtirpc-0.2.4-0.3.el7.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 RSA/SHA256 Signature, key ID f4a80eb5: NOKEY error: Failed dependencies: libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.14)(64bit) is needed by libtirpc-0.2.4-0.3.el7.x86_64 libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.15)(64bit) is needed by libtirpc-0.2.4-0.3.el7.x86_64 libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.16)(64bit) is needed by libtirpc-0.2.4-0.3.el7.x86_64 There are many other private RPMs which depend on glibc-2.12-1.132.el6.x86_64, so I dont want to touch glibc-2.12, is that possible to install same RPMs of different version. ?? linux centos yum rpm redhat-enterprise-linux share|improve this question asked Dec 9 '14 at 6:10 Vikram Singh 833313 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted The version of glibc you have installed does not satisfy the dependencies of the RPM you are trying to install. You mentioned that you are using RHEL 6.5 -- the RPM you are trying to install has "el7" in the filename (libtirpc-0.2.4-0.3.el7.x86_64.rpm) which means that it was compiled and built against
