Later upon examination all of the file names are actually all ascii characters. The Charset is set to 'Autodetect' and have tried 'Force UTF-8' as well. The server supports UTF-8.I have read this: http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Character_SetThere are some other related posts but they do not seem to cover the case as this where the file names are ascii characters and the transfer has problems at random points (doesn't fail on the same file every time).Other FTP clients such as WinSCP don't have the same problem and transfer over all of the files fine.Since I never previously had this problem before and nothing has changed on the server it seems that it was triggered by a recent upgrade. I am currently on version 3.5.1. folders have first been transferred from a Mac to a PC before being FTP'd and contain non-standard Mac characters. This is a https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=22162 known issue and there have been custom apps that have been built that will automatically correct the non-standard characters. -So what's the resolution to this? where are these custom apps? https://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Talk:Character_Encoding List of Charsets names used in Filezilla[edit] These should be documented or pointed to here. To use FTP you will need a special program - an FTP http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14416031/changing-server-charset-from-iso-8859-1-to-utf-8 client, e.g. Filezilla, CuteFTP, FTP Commander etc. A browser cannot be used for this purpose. You can get additional info on these and other programs with the help of error failed search engines (Google, Yahoo! etc.). Learn how to setup FTP on uCoz and connect using a FTP client (guide by TeamNiBiC) 1. Sign in to your Control Panel (http://example.ucoz.com/admin) 2. At the main page, click on FTP details. 3. A window will appear, where you will find: host, login and password. If you haven't set the password yet, error failed to click the link and set one. 4. Save the information or at least keep the window open for you to log in using your favorite client. I recommend Filezilla, which can be found by Google: Filezilla download. 5. Install and launch the client and sign in with your information. For FTP programs to work properly you should check your network settings, the settings of firewall and antivirus software. It is desirable to look into the error log. If the connection to the server was established, an error will be clearly described. If there is no connection then there is something wrong with the network or client settings. You may often need to use the passive mode, if your ISP sets limitations. ATTENTION! To establish an FTP connection you should observe the following conditions: 1. Your e-mail must be confirmed. 2. Your website must be at least 2 hours old (sometimes up to 24 hours) for FTP to work. 3. The installed security programs must not forbid FTP connection. 4. The p

If you're on a shared host, it is possible that the AllowOverride directive in the httpd.conf configuration file is disabled, which means you cannot change it yourself, and someone else has to do it for you. You can easily setup the charset of your database by going into the Cpanel or PHPMyAdmin and creating a database. –Luka Jan 19 '13 at 16:00 @Luka i have dedicated server.please advise how can i change server charset to utf-8 –raviloves Jan 19 '13 at 16:02 You can try adding this directive AddDefaultChar
