I am trying to add a auto sms backup feature to my app and every time I run the http connection from my service I get this error and nothing back ups. The only thing I can see that would matter if null or not would be the http URL. But I know that works correctly cause before I set it to a service you could back it up manually. Is there a way to check to see what is causing this error? Find the null? public class SMSBackup extends AsyncTask

I took a quick look at the code and couldn't find an obvious reason for this exception. bfattori commented Jul 2, 2015 The issue is that the connection receives no response from the server. The request is sent, and the server accepts the request but generates no response. What appears to be happening (I'm not debugging the actual Android runtime, so I don't know for sure) is that the connection eventually times out, but no error is returned - it just fails silently. When I corrected the server and made it send the response, things started working as expected. So, here are 3 suggestions: 1) Implement a timeout of some large amount, like 5 minutes even when the user leaves the timeout at zero. Instead, implement a constant like NO_TIMEOUT for HttpRequestOptions which will explicitly not set a timeout. 2) When the conne
