Error. Failed to poke Open Firewall. I haven't been having any network problems, and this is logged every time I open steam. Strangely though, When I run the program as administrator, the error is not logged. This is a relatively new windows install. Any Ideas? Not a solution but rather a temporary workaround. m 0 l Can't find your answer ? Ask ! Publish Related resources SolvedMy laptop failed to boot the error message says windows failed to start. I am not how to fix this at all. I'm not using any firewall (win 7 sp1). However when I cleared the message I got "install complete" message. then ended up waiting for about an hour with the 'updating package' status bar, while the "STEAM CLIENT BOOTSTRAPPER (buildbot winslave04_steam_steam_rel_client_win32@winslave04 )" process using 0% cpu. Hey gang, Ok so I am one of these guys that likes to keep a check on event viewer in my Windows install, and look for any critical errors that might be showing up. Hate seeing those things... Anyway, one thing I have noticed when I run Cliffs - obviously I start Steam which seems to start just fine, then I launch Cliffs of Dover. Each time it seems to generate an error message in my Windows event viewer: Event 1 Steam Client Service " Error: Failed to poke open firewall" Just curious if anyone else gets this? Everything seems to be working just fine... This seems to occur when waking the computer up from suspend, and reboots with an issue. I've attached the capture from blue screen viewer. Please note this build is literally 2 days old and I haven't really done anything aside from download steam and start downloading games, so I'm doubting malware is what is causing it.
