Anybody knows the solution to this? redhat yum share|improve this question asked Oct 8 '10 at 10:28 Erik I 251416 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted This is a problem in RHN and it's CDN, where it is saying "XYZ" is the checksum for file A but when yum does a checksum on what it has downloaded it's not getting "XYZ" so refuses to use it. I'd highly recommend you open a support ticket, or you can just wait for it to fix itself. You probably want to link your support ticket to: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show

And when you have a server you have a client. but before i get to the client, i suddenly noticed i was no longer populating errata into my centos channel. the reason being that sometime around the beginning of the year, centos decided to avoid a hash collision by switching to sha256. so i switched the channel hash calculation to sha256 and once again, i was downloading errata. then i came to do a yum update on the client and this is what i go: Error: failed to retrieve repodata/primary.xml.gz from centos5-x86_64-updateserror was [Errno -3] Error performing checksumthe solution, which took quite a bit of time to find was actually quite simple: to install python-hashlib from epel repositories rpm -Uvh http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/5/x86_64/python-hashlib-20081119-4.el5.x86_64.rpm Log in to post comments Comments Wed, 03/06/2013 - 10:16 — administrator (not verified) just so y'all know that was just so y'all know that was for centos5 Log in to post comments Powered by Drupal
