the last two days searching for an answer to this issue but it seems that I'm the only one with the problem. Any help you can't is greatly appreciated as my mail system is turning away some email due http://www.verycomputer.com/4_67cd39bac480c44d_1.htm to this problem. The problem is very simple: I have this map defined in my sendmail.mc: Kemaillookup ldap -1 -v aptmailLocalAddress -k (&(objectClass=aptAccount)(aptmailLocalAddress=%0)) The purpose for the map is to look up the fully qualified email address in ldap https://channel9.msdn.com/Forums/Coffeehouse/64905-Outlook-strikes-back to make sure the rcpt is valid. So later on I have: R$+ This works fine except I notice this in the logs a couple of times a day: Jun 13 09:02:10 larry sendmail[6171]: g5DH29F1006171: SYSERR(root): Error getting LDAP error getting results in map emaillookup: Can't contact LDAP server I checked the messageID and the email was turned away with an "Mail sent to invalid user" because the directory was unavailable. Well, I haven't had any problems with my directory and I even have a secondary directory defined with: define(`confLDAP_DEFAULT_SPEC', `-h "localhost 192.168.99.1" -b dc=aptalaska,dc=net') I can't see how both directories would be completely unavailable at random only a couple of times a day. What can I do to trouble-shoot error getting ldap this? I was unable to find any information on ldap connection timeouts or anything else. Perhaps I need to check to see if the directory is available, but I don't think that will work because it always it except for the 5-10 times a day I get this error. Thanks, schu Top 1. SYSERR(root): Error getting LDAP results in map ldapmra: Can't contact LDAP server Anyone know what this error message means exactly? SYSERR(root): Error getting LDAP results in map ldapmra: Can't contact LDAP server Does sendmail try to reconnect and print a different error message if the directory is unavalible? What happens to K maps that use the directory if the directory is unavailable? Do they report no match? Thanks, schu 2. FS: 5.25" / 1.2Gb Drives w/SMD Interface 3. Well here's my problem. I haven't been recieveing any email (once again) in Outlook, besides that sent from myself. Plus, I can send email. My Outlook version is 2003 I don't have any virii or spyware/adware. So I don't know what to do manickernel helped me before, but that seems to have been a temporary measurement. How do you people know so much about Outlook anyway? Maybe there is a course or something titled "How to defeat Outlook, the beast from Microsoft." that would enable me to control this thing and tell it when I want to recieve mail and where to put it. Maybe I should just jump over to Thunderbird... [Threat supposed to scare Microsoft into wanting to help me] Loadsgood. Manip May 09, 2005 at1:27AM I've never had an issue with Outlook, and frankly it sounds like a problem with your mail
