Posted on 2008-11-13 Exchange 1 Verified Solution 10 Comments 1,464 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-05 Some background: When attempting to run Exmerge https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/288446 as Administrator I can see all the mailboxes fine in the final steps of Exmerge, however I'm unable to extra data most likely because group Administrators explicitily denied for Exchange. I'm attempting to extract a PST file from the Exchange Database for one of the existing Mailboxes via Exmerge Two-Steps Procedure. I have followed the steps outlined here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/288446 followed by 2 extra steps to avoid being denied access as Administrator. Adding Group Remote Desktop Users to the created user to alllow RDP to the server and Domain Users (is this explicitly denied by Exmerge?) 2. Giving full permissions on folder Exchsvr/bin where Exmerge is located to the user to allow run Exmerge.exe An error encountered with one or more users when retrieving the list of mailboxes homed in the selected databases on server 'SERVER'. Please refer to the log file, 'Log file not initialized', for more information After pressing OK another error in a pop-up. Error encountered getting mailbox information from the private information store database(s) on server "SERVER". Make sure you have adequate permissions on the Information Store Object. Please refer to the "log file not inititalized' log file for more information. There's a microsoft KB here on this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919088 However I'm inclined to think that the cause of my issue is different since I'm able to view all mailboxes just fine via administrator account. What can I do about my 2 errors?would MS kb 919088 progress my case? I have installed the agent on a proxy windows 2008 R2 server. I am currently using the same server for public folder backups and it works fine. I am able to manually browse and select the mailbox I am trying to backup. Cant find much on that error in the documentation. Any ideas where I might look?
