Error Loading Config Bgi
Bginfo remotely to all users using a vbscript that runs at logon (in the UsersGPO asopposed to the computer). The BGinfo.exe,
Bginfo /silent
bginfo.bgi andthe wallpaper are all stored in the domains 'netlogon' folder so everyone has accessand presently everyone is receiving the wallpaper OK and its updating perfectly. However if a user logs off or restarts, they receive
Disable Bginfo
the following error: BGINFO Error loading '\\ultra-electronics.local\\netlogon\bginfo.bgi' The desktop actually updates, but I can imagine that having to click past an error message every time you reboot could get frustrating (and lets face it, it's always about the users!) If the user shuts down fully, turns the machine back on and then logs in, no error is recieved - it's like you get one shot at it. Is there anything obvious that I have gotten wrong here? The GPO script I'm running is this: Set ObjShell = CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")ObjShell.Run "\\ultra-electronics.local\netlogon\bginfo.exe \\ultra-electronics.local\netlogon\bginfo.bgi /timer:0 /nolicprompt" BGINFO Settings Wallpaper location is \\ultra-electronics.local\netlogon\ultra_cems.bmp Bitmap location is Users Temp Files - %TEMP%\BGinfo.bmp Desktops are set to Update this wallpaper for all users. MOST users are administrators of their PCs but there is no difference in the errors between a User, Power User or Admin. Any help would be greatly appreciated - if you require any more information, please say! molotov Members Profile Send Private Message Find Members Posts Add to Buddy List Moderator Group Joined: 04 October 2006 Status: Offline Points: 17526 Post Options Post Reply Quotemolotov Report Post Thanks(0) QuoteReply Posted: 03 June 2009 at 11:55am Hi Nathan, Have you checked into BgInfo's /silent command-line option? to comments I was recently asked to deploy wallpaper with BGInfo at work and wanted to share how I set it up. A quick Google search shows numerous ways to accomplish this and the below method is just one. Copy BGInfo to your DC’s NETLOGON folder with the wallpaper you would like to deploy then launch BGInfo, below is the default look. You can customize what fields to display on the desktop by using the fields listed on the right, and remove fields just by deleting them. Below is what I would like to show on systems. Click on "Position" to select where on the display you would like to see this information. Select the bottom right radio button and click on "Multiple Monitor Configuration" Make sure the radio button "Primary display monitor" is selected then click "OK" and "OK" again to get back to the main screen. Click on "Background" Select "Use these settings" Wallpaper Bitmap, browse to the .jpg file to placed in the NETLOGON folder. Wallpaper Position, use the drop down and select "Center" Change the background colour to White and place a tick in "Make wallpaper visible behind text" then click "OK" Click on the "Desktops" button and match the settings to the below image then click "OK" Now that you have configured the base settings for BgInfo you will need to save it. Select "File\Save As." I have saved the configuration file as BgInfoCFG.bgi and placed this at \\dc01\NETLOGON with the .jpg and BgInfo.exe. Creating the batch file Open notepad and type the below command: \\dc01\netlogon\bginfo.exe /iq \\DC01\netlogon\BgInfoCFG.bgi /timer:0 /nolicprompt The first part of the script highlighted in blue calls the bginfo application and the second part highlighted in red tells it to use the config file. Below explains the purpose of the two switches. /timer: 0 (launches straight away) and /nolicprompt (no license prompt) Save the f
