to RE-Install Spybot Search&Destroy with issues Discussion in 'Software' started by Jewelianne, May 31, 2015. Jewelianne Private E-2 I tried the 2.4 and was unhappy with it so I wanted to go back to the 1.6, so I came here to Major Geeks and got a Spybot 1.6.2 download, after the download when I tried to install it this is what it said twice xError Sending Request. A redirect request will change a non-secure to a secure connection. I have no problems downloading anything else or deleting or altering any other program, just this Spybot http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f112/solved-spybot-search-and-destroy-file-download-error-sending-request-335865.html sd1.6.2 I would appreciate any help. Ditto. For me they work in both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Bookmark the link posted by JoeRay12 - that site is invaluable. Here's the http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index.php?threads/trying-to-re-install-spybot-search-destroy-with-issues.293243/ link to the exact version - 1.6.2 - you need. http://www.oldapps.com/spybot.php?old_spybot=10 Eldon, May 31, 2015 #2 The Shadow Specialist If you already had a later version of Spybot S&D installed on your PC, parts of it may still reside in your registry. You will probably need an Uninstall program like "Revo Uninstaller" to purge your registry of those remaining entries. Or you can do that manually, if you're a registry Pro. rolleyes The true success of using Spybot S&D 1.6.? is in the Installation/Setup. I spent a good bit of time and effort coming up with a full page of Setup instructions for that version. Too many folks think that all they have to do is install the program on their PC, and that's it! "Au Contraire Mon Fraire". Just maintaining the program on a weekly basis is a three step manual process. 1. Get the updates, that are posted every Wednesday. 2. Perform the Immunization 3. Run the Scanner and delete whatever it finds. I'd be glad to share the text of those instructions with anyone who really wants them. (they are too much to post here) Cheers mates!
