reader, I recently upgraded my PC to a Intel P2.6 on a ASUS P4SGX- MX m/b and installed Windows 2000 Pro. After installing all the related m/b drivers, LAN, Display, IDE, Sound .. etc, I created a dial up connection to download the Win2000 Service pack updates. I dialed up, began the download and somewhere during the download, a window popped up with 'svchost error' and the desktop promptly froze. The download continued and completed but as it attempted beginning to install, another message box opened telling me the application could not complete. I was hoping the service pack install might have corrected what ever fault was causing the 'svchost error'. Questions 1. What is a svchost error? 2. How do I correct what ever is causing it?
