Error - Retry Mount Freenas
17, 2012 Messages: 2 Thanks Received: 0 Trophy Points: 1 Hello, I know I am running an old system here, but I need to get my software Raid5 working before I can upgrade. Any help would be appreciated. The other day I turned off my server, so I could mount it into a 19" rack and when I turned it back on the Software RAID will not mount. Under Mount Point Status it says Error. I clicked Retry but it would not mount, nor does it say what the error is. My 3 disk show up as being Online under Disk Management. S.M.A.R.T. does not show any error for the HDD. Under the Software RAID screen it shows that the status as being Complete. In the log I see: kernel: kldload: /boot/kernel/geom_vinum.ko: Unsupported file type mountd[6264]: bad exports list line /mnt/RaidOne/ root: Error: Failed to mount /dev/raid5/RaidOnep1 using UFS mbd[5666]: [2012/11/17 16:05:31, 0] nmbd/nmbd.c:terminate(58) These are the only issues I see in the log. I have tried searching on the internet for information, but have failed to find any solutions to my problem. I would appreciate help towards solving this problem. Thanks you. It's all up and running with RAID5 however when i try to browse to a share from a windows client I get asked for login even tho I have enabled anonymous login in FreeNAS, whats really irritating is core education blocking google search http://www.edugeek.net/forums/nix/39340-freenas-frustrations.html terms such as 'freeNAS anonymous login' you'd think they'd turn it off in the summer hols. anyway I am able to login to freeNAS but when i try to copy files to the share is says there not enough disk space which is wrong, I dont understant unix file permissions and am totally clueless on freeNAS only started this yesterday. any ideas? If you are unsure on the unix file permissions then use the inbuilt file manager that came with the latest version - QuiXplorer. Also have you enabled CIFS ? Did you change anything on your hardware? Damaged or lost power connector? Failed drive? Please note the Post on the top from this section, pinned with a sticky "Add Old SoftwareRAID Workflow".You have an older FreeNAS running, with a current NAS4Free setup things were much easier, DISK - MANAGEMENT - Button "Clear config and Import disks"DISK - MANAGEMENT - Button "Clear config and Import Software raid disks"These Butons are absolute phantastic features...But anyway, you could give it a try, but first of all backup your config file from your current FreeNAS.Then take a pencil and write on a piece of paper- The exact name from the raid array (note upper and lower case letters)- The exact name from the mount point (note upper and lower case letters)- The partition number (found at the moint point)The information are absolute helpful when automated scan from current NAS4Free versions does not work. Posted on 2008-09-24 Unix OS Server Hardware Storage 1 Verified Solution 1 Comment 4,465 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-22 I am a freenas noob with what I hope is a simple problem. I started out with building a freenas box in some old hardware (emachines: celeron 1.4, 128mb) and 3x 160GB PATA disks using the latest stable release 0.686.4.3374. Everything worked fine except I could only mount the 3 drives separately. Any attempt to mount a software RAID (0,1,5) volume results in a message of 'error retry'. Next I upgraded to 0.69b3 same thing, after that I thought it might be the smelly old hardware so I rebuilt in a Dell 8200 (P4-2Ghz, 1GB) with a fresh instance of 0.69b3. Bad news is I still have the same problem, the box works great with the drives mounted separately but even though I can create RAID volumes no problem they will not mount. I know you have to use all of the storage drives for software RAID to work on freenas, the OS is on a 4th 10GB disk. Any suggestions gratefully received. 0 Question by:Abraxa Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution byAbraxa I have fixed this issue myself.
