Any suggestions? Thanks! Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: DNS Error Hotnames Not Found how do i stop getting DNS error DNS Error   7 Replies Datil OP L.S Jan 11, 2012 at 4:00 UTC Check the network settings. Make event id sure it hasnt got static DNS settings. If you have just joined it to your network, it should be pointing at your DNS server, not itself or anywhere else. 0 Pimiento OP William6352 Jan 13, 2012 at 9:10 UTC The error is a sporadic one, every few hours. The server that gets the error is the DNS for the domain. It seems to be properly registered in all the forward, reverse lookup zones, etc. This event id 5774 is one of the error messages: The dynamic registration of the DNS record '_ldap._tcp.pdc._msdcs.xxx.com. 600 IN SRV 0 100 389 xxxxxxxx.xxx.com.' failed on the following DNS server: DNS server IP address: 193.12.211.140 Returned Response Code (RCODE): 5 Returned Status Code: 9017 For computers and users to locate this domain controller, this record must be registered in DNS. USER ACTION Determine what might have caused this failure, resolve the problem, and initiate registration of the DNS records by the domain controller. To determine what might have caused this failure, run DCDiag.exe. To learn more about DCDiag.exe, see Help and Support Center. To initiate registration of the DNS records by this domain controller, run 'nltest.exe /dsregdns' from the command prompt on the domain controller or restart Net Logon service. Or, you can manually add this record to DNS, but it is not recommended. ADDITIONAL DATA Error Value: DNS bad key. NOTE: I have run the aforementioned tests and found nothing. Is it possible to have a workstation to attempt to register a foreign DNS through the server? If not, how might I locate the bad DNS entry and remove it? Thanks! 0 Datil OP L.S Jan 15, 2012 at 10:26 UTC What are the IP setting for the LAN? (IP, gateway, DNS, DHCP) That IP address doesn't seem right (193.12.211.140) 0 Pimiento OP William6352 Jan 15, 2
