Using Ghost 2004 floppy to copy the old hard drive to the new one. There are two partitions on the drive, one is the fat partition that HP stores the restoration info in, the other is the main partition NTFS. Then I noticed one of the System Restore files created by XP had grown to 320 MB spanning 5000 fragments. For some reason, defrag does not coalesce this space. I turned off System Restore to delete the file plus a number of others. Now I can clone the volume.
