Then my PC started complaining of low storage, then I tried to delete Ubuntu for Windows. I navigate to disk management via window, and deleted the Ubuntu partition. Now i can't boot in to my PC anymore, it keep displaying an error message that says "GRUB Loading stage 1.5. GRUB loading, please wait... Error. 22". Please help, I've tried using the installation disk but all to no avail. The installation disc is not showing anything including command prompt or Terminal. Moreover, I also tried the windows installation disc too but nothing happen. If it does, change that to Windows. –Joakim Koed May 8 at 9:01 You appear to somehow have been using legacy grub, which has been deprecated since Ubuntu 9.10, rather than grub2. –psusi May 8 at 13:01 Possible duplicate of How to remove Ubuntu and put Windows back on? –psusi May 8 at 13:01 I've tried Harddrive

HELP!!!! Hi, I am REALLY new to linux so please be 'basic' with me... okay, this is the problem: I have a windows vista and windows 7 rc1 32bit dual boot on my laptops hard drive, each on a separate partition. I tried to install ubuntu 9.04 on my 500gb portable external hard drive and all went well. It installed fine but it seems to have moved the boot loader or something onto the portable hd because i can only boot if the portable hd is plugged in. If it isn't it says "Loading grub stage 1.5" "error 22" All i want to do is get rid of ubuntu 9.04 without breaking my computer because i know enough that if i delete the partition on my phd i will lose the grub thingy and nothing will boot. Thanks in advance, Ratman Adv Reply October 16th, 2009 #2 wobin77 View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message A Carafe of Ubuntu Join Date Sep 2009 Beans 108 DistroUbuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope Re: Ubuntu Boot error 22!!! to install Ubuntu 8.10 desktop i386 version. The installation and everything works fine, but when I remove the cd (as asked to) and reboot the computer I get the message "Grub error 22".. I've been using ubuntu before but https://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/linux-and-unix/threads/187517/grub-error-22 never seen this error earlier. I've tried the tips I've found via google and none has worked. And for the record; I had windows on this hdd previously but I formated the hdd and installed the ubuntu version mentioned above. I don't know what to do and I don't want to install windows again, I'd love some assistance. (No I do not wish to have a dual boot setup) Thanks in advance. getting-started Zhoot 26 posts grub error since Jan 2008 Community Member 2Contributors 3Replies 4Views 7 YearsDiscussion Span 7 Years Ago Last Post by airbourne 0 airbourne 29 7 Years Ago Assuming the HDD has no problems (no bad sectors, etc), if you first remove all the existing partitions (including any OEM service partitions that DELL and HP install on their machines), you should be able to let Ubuntu automatically setup all the partitions back on the HDD that it needs and be fine. grub error 22 The error you are getting appears to be a problem with the MBR. You can use a program like GPARTED Live CD (free bootable partition software) to remove all of the partitions if you are having trouble doing that with the Ubuntu setup. 0 Discussion Starter Zhoot 7 Years Ago Thank you for your reply. But the problem dissappeared when I reinstalled ubuntu for the 5th time. Odd but I'm happy :) 0 airbourne 29 7 Years Ago Gotta love computers.
