Solved LaserJet hp laserjet 1018 - Spooler SubSystem Error Posted on 2008-08-19 Printers and Scanners Windows XP 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 11,714 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-15 We have an HP LaserJet 1018 printer and when printing PDF files, we get an error that says: "Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are hp laserjet 1020 sorry for the inconvenience." This will stop the Print Spooler service and every attempt to start it back up will cause it to crash again unless you quickly enable it then cancel all documents in the printer's queue before it crashes again. I have followed the instructions here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324757 numerous times to uninstall all of the printer drivers and reinstall them. I have attempted to print via Foxit Reader and Adobe Reader and the problem persists. I have installed the following printer drivers hoping they would be compatible and work: Laserjet 5 HP Universal Printing driver LaserJet 1010 LaserJet 1015 When installing one of the above drivers, the printer simply does not print. Anyone know of any drivers I can use for this 1018 or a way to resolve this spooler subsystem error? 0 Question by:FIM2003 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 13 Best Solution byRichard_de_groot Hi, can you try this? Cookies Registration Notice Resolved spooler subsystem App Stopped running Discussion in 'Windows Vista' started by lhart, 2010/09/22. 2010/09/22 lhart Inactive Thread Starter Joined: 2010/09/01 Messages: 7 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 76 Computer Experience: Intermediate I have been having a problem on and off over the past year with my print spooler stopping...at any random time. In the past, I have done a system restore to that morning and it fixes it. It always seems to happen when I try to print a PDF. I am not sure why that is, but that is the common denominator that I have found. I am using Windows Vista 64 Bit. I have an HP Laserjet 1018 and have tried installing print drivers, going back to original printer disk, you name it. I have been on your message boards scouring for answers and cannot seem to find a solution. I thought maybe I had a virus or something, but ran Norton 360 and all is clean. I am at a major loss and need some suggestions. If it's my printer, I will go buy a new one, but I can't spend a day trying to get this resolved each time this happens. The solution is never the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. If not, open a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type cmd and press Enter. Now type these commands, which are in capitals for clarity only: NET STOP SPOOLER and press Enter DEL %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRINTERS\*.* and press Enter NET START SPOOLER and press Enter EXIT and
