You might need to http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/HP-LaserJet-1020-1022-Kills-Print-Spooler/td-p/29771/page/2 use the kb2000007 to clean or reset your print spooler to defaults, after which you can re-install the Zenographics driver for HP LaserJet 1020 1018 and 1022. That's it!!! The story of the fix is below. First and foremost happy new year!!! I know is late but this is my first input on 2010, and I didn't want to write something http://www.gameaddict.eu/hp-lj-1020-spooler-subsystem-error-fix/ just for the sake of writing. I wanted to have something to say. So this time is a tutorial on how to fix the HP LaserJet 1020 Spooler susbsystem error. I even called HP and to tell them that there is an hp laserjet 1020 driver issue, but they were claiming that my system is corrupt. I accepted but still waited for that file that would guarantee the crash every time I would try to print it on the printer. About two months later that file produced the error. So I saved the file and called 'em back. The HP official stand by was: "Microsoft's Fault". I knew is not Microsoft's fault, at least not in this case. Anyway I got annoyed that HP would not admit to the problem and I decided to call Microsoft to ask them to remove the digital signature because HP would not own up to it. (I even called HP back to tell them that I found the solution. I also wanted to throw it in their face that I w
partition information HP LaserJet 1020-1022 Print Spooler dies repeatedly On July 7, 2010, in How-to, by Cubert aka (Cube Dweller) Do http://www.squidworks.net/2010/07/hp-laserjet-1020-1022-print-spooler-dies-repeatedly/ you have a HP LaserJet 10-1022 printers and everytime someone prints a PDF file it kills the print spooler? Based on research from sources including GameAddict, The http://davidvielmetter.com/tricks/howto-fix-hp-1020-printer-spooler-subsystem-crash/ SDhp1020.dll was build by 2 different companies, Zenographics Inc, and by Marvell Semiconductor. The Marvell version of the drivers crash when printing some PDF files. Of course the Marvell hp laserjet version is also the current / latest version so your likely to get this driver if you download from HP web site. So here is how to fix the HP LJ 1020 Spooler susbsystem error. Download the HP Driver files here -> HP-LJ1020-fix Extract the files then the files need to be copied into: hp laserjet 1020 C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32×86\3 Zip includes: SDhp1020.DLL -> as part of the original driver package SDDM32.DLL -> Zenographics Inc (original) ZTAG32.DLL -> Zenographics Inc (original) ZGDI32.DLL -> Zenographics Inc (original) The zip also has the rest of the HP driver package in it. You do not need to copy the entire driver folder, just SDhp1020.DLL. But if you want the entire package it is supplied as well. #Foot Note added (2/1/2012)# I had one of my techs use these instructions and he could not understand why it still failed afterwards. The reason was clear that the system he placed DLL on was a 64 bit Windows 7 box. You will need to place DLL into: C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 overwriting the DLL that is already there. The key here is your replacing a DLL version so if you do not overwrite a DLL then your not in the right place. Enjoy Share this:FacebookLinkedInPrintEmailLike this:Like Loading... and thinking to yourself: "Hey you know what would be awesome? If I could print this large PDF file on my brand new HP 1020 Laser printer - because that's what I bought it for - that's what would be awesome!" Unfortunately though, when you click print all you see is an error saying that the "Spooler subsystem app has encountered a problem and needs to close." Your only option is to click OK so you think nothing of it and continue to work without the printed material. Later you find that all your printers are gone and you can't print anything anymore. Here's what happened: The poorly coded HP printer driver has managed to crash the entire Windows print spooler subsystem because it couldn't handle that large PDF file you tried to print earlier. When you rebooted, the subsystem recovered but because the print job was still in the print queue, it crashed again. The thing is you can't cancel the job without the print subsystem running but the subsystem keeps crashing because of the job. This is what we computer geeks call an infinite loop. Here's how to break the loop and get printing again. [step 1] Open your computers services control panel by navigating to Start->Run, type services.msc and click OK. If your computers start menu doesn't have Run on it, try entering "services" into the Search programs and files field on the start menu (VISTA). The services control panel contains all of the systems background services, one of which is the Print Spooler service. Highlight it, we'll need to work with this service. [step 2] Open your computers printers control panel folder by navigating to Start->Printers and Devices or search for it using the method described above. This folder normally contains all of your installed printers, but if your print spooler subsystem has crashed, all you'll see is the Add Printer icon. [step 3] Place the two windows (the services and printers control panels) next to each other on the desktop so you can easily work with both at the same time. Now in the Services window, right click the Print Spooler service and click Start. Click on the Printers control panel window to bring it into focus and press the F5 key to refresh its contents. You should now see all of your printers. If not give it a second and try pressing F5 again to refresh. The idea here is to start the printer subsystem and try to cancel the print job in the queue before it gets resubmitted and crashes the print spooler subsy
