Ldts do a test. Remove the formatter from the botton of the machine. http://www.advancedlaser-hp-error-codes.com/hp1100errorcodes.htm Real easy just remove the screws, lift up by the side and disconnect the connectors which go to the board. Plug in the printer and put in paper. Lift up the memory door in the back and a little to the right will be an engine test button. Press the button and see if you get a page to print with vertical lines. If it prints, the formatter is the problem. If it does not print, you have other problems. I seen cases where the plastic posts which hold the main http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/17817 board in the front of the machine break causing all sorts of problems. The only way to correct this problem is with crazy glue. If all the lights come on and stay solid without blinking then you have a fatal error and pressing the big button will give you a secondary light pattern. Post it here and someone will tell you what is wrong. It can be as simple as the plastic tab which activates the laser/scanner switch breaking off. by dmzcompute on Mar 25, 2004 at 3:18pm Add comment Please sign in to comment all 3 leds are ligt on. when i press the test button the first 2 are remaining on . what's the problem? thanks - Anonymous 0 I have a Laserjet 1100 which, when connected all lights come on and stay solid. Some of the causes include the following: The paper-input trays are loaded improperly or overfilled. The paper-output path is changed during, rather than before, a print job. Media that do not meet HP specifications are used. NOTE: Always remove all paper from the paper input tray and straighten the stack when new paper is added.
