I'm not gonna buy any f@$\%king HP products again for the rest of my life. by unknown on Aug 1, 2010 at 7:14pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I just fixed my HP 3380 scanner error!!!Please follow the direction as stated below.Lets try to make this as easy as possible. There is one thing you can do which MAY fix the problem. Turn the power off. Lift up the adf(cover) and look on the left side and hp laserjet 3055 scanner error 3 you will see a small strip of glass covered by a platic piece with one screw in the middle. Remove the screw and remove the plastic piece and then remove the strip of glass. Now take a needle nose pliers and towards the back in the opening is the belt that moves the scanner. Move the belt a little at a time until it moves the scanner almost over the opening and then use your fingernail to move it over the opening. (Or turn on and turn off repeatedly almost 20 times for moving scanner to the opening) Look down and you will see a mirror(right side gab under the scanner light). It may look clean but it has a film on it that prevents the scanner from calibrating. Use a dry q-tip and clean the mirror a couple of times and then move the scanner back towards the right and then use the pliers to move it the rest of the way to the right side. Put back the glass, the plastic cover and put the screw back in and turn the machine on and see if now comes to ready. 85\% of the time it will work. by unknown on Sep 14, 2011 at 12:30am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Gee I could have sworn I wrote those directions at least 20 times on this site over the last few years. by dmzcompute on Sep 14, 2011 at 5:15am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Jeffery Kim.Thank you, it DOES Work!!!!!!!Followed the directions and its now scanning. Thanks Again.it was a dirty mirror. This post is here purely to help those who are Googling for a solution to this problem. Everyone else please ignore! If you have an HP all-in-one 3300-series printer/copier/scanner, and it starts saying "Scanner error power off->power on", but https://statusq.org/archives/2008/01/21/1745/ powering off and on doesn't help, then you really need this page. Many thanks to https://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showtopic=129217 all who posted there! Basically, you power off the printer and unscrew the screw which allows you to remove the small piece of glass to the left of the main scanning glass. Using some needle-nosed pliers through the opening, grasp the drive belt and use it to move the scanning head across from the right hand side of the scanning hp laserjet area to the left, until it's right under the opening. At the bottom of the wide slot, there's a mirror, and it gets fogged up with something. Shine a good light in there and use dry Q-tips to give the mirror a good clean. Then reassemble everything and turn the printer back on. After a little warm-up, you should get the ‘Ready' prompt again, and your heart will be filled with joy. The whole process should scanner error power only take about 5 mins. There may be other things which cause a ‘scanner error', but this fixed it for me and, it would appear, for many others. I was about at wit's end, as the power-off time necessary to get past the error had increased from a few minutes to a few hours to overnight, and at the beginning of this week even the overnight didn't work. Should have Googled the problem long ago. Took me a few seconds to see the narrow belt, up near the edge of the main glass closest to the hinge for the printer's top. And then a few more seconds to be sure I was looking at the right thing to

Problem with HP 3380 Laserjet Printer Started by MikeSA , Jan 28 2015 04:29 AM Please log in to reply 3 replies to this topic #1 MikeSA MikeSA Authentic Member Authentic Member 55 posts Posted 28 January 2015 - 04:29 AM I have just connected an HP 3380 Laserjet Printer to my new Windows 8.1 computer. However, I am having problems printing. Whenever the machine is switched on, the display reads SCANNER BULB WARMING UP and then after about two minutes the display reads SCANNER ERROR POWER ON POWER OFF. This happens all the time. On the odd occasion, however, the display reads READY but, when I try to print, it says CANNOT PRINT : PRINTER IN ERROR STATE. I have been on the HP website and tried everything stated there for this type of problem, even re-installing the drivers and updating the firmware but to no avail. What could be the problem or am I doing something wrong? Can someone please advise. Thanks. ( and you don't have the lasejet set up as a network printer) (the printer driver that win 8.1 usually installs does not provide automatically for scanning etc.,) and this may be part of the reason for the error messages you are receiving. If running Windows Update does not do the trick for you then more drastic action may be required. It may be necessary to uninstall all the HP printer/scanner software (using Revo uninstaller (the free version will be
