If you get a 50.9 error (or any 50.x error) you can try turning the power off, reseating the fuser, and powering the printer back on for more printing; sometimes this will temporarily reset the fuser and let it print a few more pages, but in almost all cases the error will return shortly and you will need to replace the fuser.Fusers are a consumable part, it is the main component in a printer maintenance kit, and it is expected over the life of the printer you will replace the fuser several times. HP estimates average fuser life for this model to last around 60,000 pages; but a fuser can fail much earlier depending on printing conditions, heavy paper jams, and the quality of the fuser installed. Fortunately, the fuser on this model is VERY easy to replace. Check out our instructions below, and purchasing options for replacing the fuser (the fuser is sold as part of the printer's maintenance kit). in HPs error code list but this hasn't helped. The printer is 13 months old and has been well used, but certainly not the 60,000 pages the fuser is meant to last for.I've tried to order a replacement fuser from HP in the UK, but was told that they are not currently available. I also tried our normal parts supplier who said that HP have identified a problem with the fuser and will not be making any more until the problem is resolved. Although the 3500 isn't available in the UK any more, the replacement model (3550) uses the same fuser unit as far as I can tell from the product brochure, so presumably they will make more at some point.I wondered if anyone has come across this situation before, or has any insight into http://www.printertechs.com/printer-troubleshooting/409-50-9-fuser-error-hp-color-laserjet-3500-3550-3700 how long it could be before they make some more fusers. Respond to this 0 What I have encountered is 2 machines with a fuser error where the replacement fuser did not solve the issue and the power supply needed to be replaced. This was in US. by dmzcompute on Aug 17, 2005 at 6:42pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Usually if HP identifies a problem, then they will replace the parts that have failed in machines in the field free, but not always. If you http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/31146 can find an authorized service provider they might be willing to check service notes for that printer and see if there are any relating to the fuser. ASP's can be more helpful than HP.Service notes often allow out of warranty failures to be treated as warranty work. by Stephen on Aug 17, 2005 at 7:13pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Steven is correct as there is a service note on the 50.1 error where they may replace the fuser under warranty. Since the service note includes the 220V version fuser I would assume it applies in your area. You can email me at the link by my name and I will forward it to you. by dmzcompute on Aug 17, 2005 at 7:40pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Did you speak to HP tech support? HP in the UK are aware of this issue and the service ID number is 3647. You need to go back to them and get a new fuser (RM1-0430-060CN) by unknown on Aug 25, 2005 at 2:31pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Saying that, I just noticed we have a backorder of 4 weeks on our system for fusers for these printers... by unknown on Aug 25, 2005 at 2:42pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 hi I have the same problem error 50.1 with two machine 3500/3550I changed fuser kit it came ok this is in middle east 220v. by BijuAlex on Jul 16, 2006 at 12:42am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0
