Tray 2. Instead, it prompts me to load letter sized paper in Tray 1 and gives me a "41.2 Unexpected paper size" error. Everything on the print queue is set up as it should be, I even tried to set it to where it would pull letter size paper from Tray 2 instead of having it automatically select the source. From the control panel on the printer itself, it will allow me to configure paper size and type for Tray 1, but it will only allow me to specify a paper type for Tray 2, not size. My best guess is that the sensor for Tray 2 is malfunctioning, but I wanted to get some other opinions. Anyone have any ideas? http://h20564.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/psi/troubleshootResults?sp4ts.oid=25475 Respond to this 1 Check the right side of the paper tray. You'll see 2 white plastic levers towards the back of it. The top one should be in and the bottom one out. This tells the printer it's set for letter. What happens is the backstop goes bad and it isn't locked in place and you get an inbetween setting thus confusing the printer. by moe on Aug 29, 2002 at 9:42am Add comment Please sign in to comment They say best http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/5864 things in life are free, Fixyourownprinter.com just prove it. You guys make my day, I got it fix by resetting the paper size on the tray. Thanks a mil. - Anonymous Your solution solved my problem. My size appeared set correctly but both of the white tabs were loose. I wedged a piece of plastic in behind one and all works well now. I could not see what was supposed to hold either one out. Is there a fix or a new paper tray?? - Anonymous 0 Please note that there is another cause for this problem on the 4050, 4100 etc. If you take out the paper cassette and turn it upside down and look at the the front of the cassette, you will see a spring that tensions upwards the paper support plate. This spring becomes a little soft, cut 2-3 coils off it and refit, it should solve the problem. A good clue is that the paper pick-up "groans" as it tries to pick the paper from the cassette. by Harvey on Sep 9, 2002 at 3:08pm Add comment Please sign in to comment Harvey...11 Years after this post! And your suggestion FIXED the problem!!!THANK-YOU!!!I've spent all afternoon trying to get help from HP Support (Hopeless & Pointless Support). They no longer support this printer on the phone. The tightening of the spring WORKED wonders! - craig1 0 Thanks guys. It turned out to be that the paper stop wasn't set in the right position. Bot
that suddenly started throwing a 41.5 Printer Error and printing blanks. The fix turned out to be very easy but if I hadn't figured it out it may have resulted in an expensive http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/13020 service call. My separation roller - the blue & grey roller in the paper tray - had moved out of place. I just pushed it back in place and it was fixed. Here's a page that has pictures of the separation and feed rollers on a 4000 series printer. The separation roller is part of the paper tray and is shown in the lower picture:http://www.printertechs.com/tech/mkinst/mk-4000-7feed.phpHope this helps someone. Respond to this 0 Yeeeees but........Glad it worked for you. hp laserjet However, in the "real world" I wish it was all so easy. Happy Birthday, Trev.Remember, you're not getting older, you're getting better. Thanks for the help on the board. by moe on Oct 1, 2003 at 6:23pm hp laserjet 4050 Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Perhaps, but the database containing the contents of this forum would probably be exponentially larger. It's cool that he posted this, don't get me wrong. But a lot of new people don't seem to use the Search function at all. Which turns into a lot of repeating previous answers. (Do a search on the drum heater Xerox fault code, and you might see what I mean) by wlulham on Nov 2, 2005 at 12:48pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Before I looked it up, I said to myself "he's from NY".Fact is, people don't want to bother reading. They don't read the forum rules, which do appear in front of them before posting. They don't read the thread and post right below the response to their question.Since anonymous is a newbie with only the 2 posts in this thread to his credit, he probably doesn't realize I'm the forum moderator and the site is called fixyourownprinter. That implies that you do your own research before you post a problem for the 53rd time. It's actually a lot faster and easier to put HP 4000 41.5 into the search engine as suggested in the forum posting rules, which do pop up before you post. by moe on Nov 2, 2005 at 6:07pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I have a Hp 4000 pr
