stops just before going into the fuser.Based on the picture in the following link, there should be a spring attached to the plastic arm that is triggered when the back is shut. I do not have that spring! get into the fuser at all, then the exit sensor is not your issue. 2 things to check. First when you lift and close the toner door, do the exit rollers on top of the printer turn for a couple of seconds. You

just put your fingers where the paper comes out and see if they turn. If they do not then you may have a fuser or coupling gear isse. The other thing is to try and feed the paper from the manual feeder and see if it goes thur. If it does you have a sensor issue on the paper input unit and a sensor board will have to be replaced. by dmzcompute on Dec 9, 2005 at 2:04pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 hp laserjet 5m dmzcompute - Tried both suggestions and they both failed. The gears insidethe printer spin but not the exit rollers. If I print from themanual feed tray I get the same 13 Paper Jam error with thepaper not making it into the fuser.I recently replaced the heat lamp in the fuser (it printed finefor several months afterward), so I hope that I dont need a newfuser assembly. How do I check the gears? by headknocker on Dec 9, 2005 at 2:48pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 If the exit rollers are not turning and the paper does not make it into the fuser, I would suspect one of the gears on the fuser has failed. Remove the fuser and inspect the gears and I am sure you will find the problem. by dmzcompute on Dec 9, 2005 at 2:53pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I have checked both gears on the fuser assembly; top/left isgray plastic and looks good, the one one front/left is metaland also looks good.Could it be a gear inside the printer? by headknocker on Dec 9, 2005 at 3:10pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 There should be a big gear around the fuser hot roller. Turn the top roller and the hot roller on the fuser should also turn. If it does not it means that gear has broken into pieces or is cracked and does not turn the hot roller. If memory serves me and I do not have one in front

message. The rollers pick up the paper, but ir goes in about half way and stops. I have these possible leads from another site, but I need to know where to begin. 1. Printer rear door open. 2. Stuck http://www.printerforums.net/threads/hp-laserjet-4p-13-paper-jam-error.1519/ or broken flags or sensors. 3. Paper fragment under oblique rollers. 4. Transfer roller guide not seated. http://printertechsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?2725-HP-Laserjet-4-plus-paper-jam-13 Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. BD BD, Aug 17, 2003 #1 Advertisements Dewaine Guest Where is teh leading edge of the paper when it jammed? If it jam before it reachs the Fuser, there is a sensor under the toner cartridge. You should be able to see it after you take toner out. Use a can of compressed air to see if you could clean it. hp laserjet Make sure that sensor arm is moving freely. 1). If the printer rear door is open, you will see the msg before the paper got picked up. 2). See above. 3). Use a flash light and check under the oblique rollers but if the paper pass them, kind of doubt it. 4). Just put down on both end. Avoid touching teh foam part with your fingers. Asout to the edge of where the toner drum is. It picks up and feeds to there consistently. I have cleaned everything I can see. Also, It does not seem to pick up manual feed pages or envelopes when I tested it this way. BD "Dewaine" <> wrote in message news:... > Where is teh leading edge of the paper when it jammed? I used to use one of these when I worked for a local tech company and was very familiar with it. The person I bought it from said it was working a month ago. When I got it home I gave it a once over, it looked good, and a few days later we had it hooked up and printing. After the first 2 pages, we began to get a 13 paper jam error. Every time we printed. It will print the page (in this case, coupons) but seems to get stuck near the top (as it was trying to come out) and the last part of the paper that comes out of the printer ends up crumpled. I also had several sheets that didn't even make it out of the printer before I would get a paper jam error. I've given the printer a once over as much as I can and following instructions found on the web, but I'm running into some problems since I don't really know what part of the machine is what. 2 questions - a) is there a place online that can help me identify which part is which? Maybe a repair manual. I did find one, but after downloading it and unzipping it, still couldn't get the manual to open. I guess I don't have the program it n
