About the only thing you can do is remove the cover and remove the two cables to the laser/scanner and reseat them and see what happens. There is also one other thing which may have happened. When you open the front cover, there is a plastic tab which presses in at the top a little to the right of center (I think) which is the switch on the laser/scanner. If that tab has broken off or is bent to one side I think you will also get the same error. If neither of these work, then the laser/scanner assembly needs to be replaced. Cost is high for that part, however, you could probably pickup a parts unit on ebay for next to nothing and most times the laser/scanner is not the issue. by dmzcompute on Sep 11, 2005 at 8:23am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 DMZ, Thanx for the reply. I have now got past that problem, but now the top light (orange remains on, after it has fed the paper thru until the top of the paper is exactly under the heating element, between the heating element and the red rubber pressure roller. It the stops there. Why? There is no sensor stuck. Is it perharps an indication od the scanner assembly? Help me out on this one please.André by Andre Roux on Sep 11, 2005 at 8:38am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Hard to tell what the issue may be. First what did you have to do to get rid of the laser/scanner error or what was causing it? Does the feeding of the paper seem smooth. In other words does the pickup roller grab the paper right away or is there a delay? There is a registration sensor located below and to the left of the pickup roller. What happens is the paper feeding trips the sensor flag letting the dc controller know that paper is on the way. If that sensor is not working the dc controller will think the paper has not started to move and shut down the printer th

minor paper jam, the yellow error won't go off and the printer won't run a self-test. I've tried replacing the toner cartridge and checking it's secure, and I've made sure the paper feed path is clear, but I http://www.verycomputer.com/14_675d5d9884b622f4_1.htm can't get the light to go out. When I power it up, the green data and paper-out lights come on momentarily, but then the yellow light comes on. If I depress the front panel button for about 5 seconds, the lights alternate in the sequence: data...paper-out...error...data...error (don't know if this is significant). I've tried in vain to get an email, telephone or fax response out of HP but no joy yet. The FAQ on the web site refers to having to 'reset hp laserjet the sensor', which sounds like a fairly easy repair - is this likely to be the case here? Any tips gratefully received. --- Steven Smith Top HP LaserJet 6L - error light won't go off? by KWar » Tue, 24 Oct 2000 04:00:00 I would look for any sensors and make sure they are clear. It could be a very little piece of paper was left behind from the jam. KLW Quote:> I'm having a problem with a 3 year hp laserjet 6l old HP LaserJet 6L. I can't believe HP would have you believe this is a factory repair. Where would I be without you guys? P.S. to Don B if he's reading - can we keep the 'blew up' thing between ourselves ;
