2014 / Dave Taylor / Mac OS X Help / No Comments I hate my printer. There’s always something wrong with it. But I gotta print things out, so I gotta cope. Now the Dock icon has a little http://www.askdavetaylor.com/yellow-triangle-printer-icon/ yellow triangle “warning” on it. What the heck, man? What does it mean and how do I fix it? I’m running Mac OS X Mavericks. Ah printers. While most of us need hard copy of materials, whether it’s a paper to http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/25661 turn in at school, a letter to Mom or the latest artwork, we really haven’t achieved the so-called paperless society that was promised a decade ago as computers really began to become ubiquitous. Problem is, printers are a pain to work hp laserjet with and there’s something about the complexity of sending data, having the printer receive it, and having it successfully come out of the printer as desired that seems to make things difficult. On Windows, the system ostensibly sneaks onto the Internet and finds the proper driver, but more often than not I find that it just says “can’t find the right driver” and either just quits or offers to use a generic printer driver which rarely actually works. On the Mac, the process hp laserjet p2015 is quite similar, though at least with the rise of Internet and AirPrint printers they’re all visible immediately (in the old days you had to know the IP address of the printer, something you’d obtain by printing the “config” sheet on the printer itself). Still, even in 2014 there are aspects of printing that are still needlessly complicated and difficult. One thing that’s improved, however, is that printers are now able to communicate back to local computers about things like paper jams and, yes, low printer ink.And it’s the latter that it sounds like you’re seeing with the yellow “warning” symbol on the Dock icon. My guess is that it looks like this: To find out what’s going on, click on the icon. Then the printer driver window will pop up: See the “Settings” button? Click on it to get more details on the printer configuration, driver version, etc: Some elements, like the “Show Printer Webpage…” will vary on a printer by printer basis, depending on how sophisticated it is, so if you don’t have that button, don’t worry too much. Instead, click on the “Supply Levels” button along the top. On a color printer, you’ll see the levels of each ink: Depending on what kind of things you print, your colors tend to be consumed at different rates, which is a huge pain because it means you can’t just “replace ’em all” but instead have to pay close attention to maximize the number
on the printer. I checked and there is no paper jam, nor is there any tray open, and the caterlage is there. Please what should I do? Thanks. Respond to this 2 It is not as simple as most printers.Turn the printer of and remove the paper tray.Lay it on it's right side. The are to clips/collars on either side of the roller.Rotate them 1/4 turn towards the bottom of the printer and one will slide out of the printer and the other up the shaft.DO NOT LET THE MAIN SHAFT MOVE TOO MUCH OR IT MAY BECOME DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAIN DRIVE (BAD DESIGN).THE REPLACEMENT ROLLER WILL ONLY FIT IN ONE WAY - THE SLOTS ARE DIFFERENT DEPTHS. by mcprinter on Aug 10, 2006 at 4:40pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 2 Looks like the memory on the formatter is bad. Reason is the middle green light is the data received light and always lights as the printer is receiving data or will stay on solid if data is in the buffer and something is preventing it from printing. One thing you can try is a NVRAM reset which may or may not work. Turn off the power. Now hold down the go button (big button in front) and turn the power on and hold the button down until all three lights come on solid. Release the button and the printer should then start cycling the lights until it comes to ready. At this point I would try the test page again and this time make sure the cable from the computer is NOT connected. If you get the same reaction, then the formatter is toast and needs to be replaced. If you now get a good test page, turn off the printer, reattach the computer cable, turn back on and try again. by dmzcompute on Dec 20, 2006 at 3:34pm Add comment Please sign in to comment This took care of two of my printers. The feeding 1/4 inch at a time seems to be a cleaning sheet of som e kind. I get this sheet by holding the go button for 15 seconds and then releasing. Once I did the reset on the third 2200 and tried to print a test page using the go button I get a medium pitch humming noise, that I would describe as rubber moving against something that is not moving. All three lights come on solid at this point when I hold job cancel and go the go light turns off and the attention and ready lights stay on solid.I did some searching around and was not able to find this light pattern on this site or on HP. If you could point me in the right direction on this issue I would appreciate it. - slaglema 1 The printer initialise ok then when you try to print test page the gears turns but it fails to pick the paper the paper pick gears are not turning. by unknown on Jul 18, 2005 at 6:07am Add comment Please sign in to comm
