right under the opening. At the bottom of the wide slot, there's a mirror, and it gets fogged up with something. Shine a good light in there and use dry Q-tips to give the mirror a good clean. Then reassemble everything and turn the printer back on. After a little warm-up, you should get the ‘Ready' prompt again, and your heart will be filled with joy. The whole process should only take about 5 mins. I was about at wit's end, as the power-off time necessary to get past the error had increased from a few minutes to a few hours to overnight, and at the beginning of this week even the overnight didn't work. Should have Googled the problem long ago. Took me a few seconds to see the narrow belt, up near the edge of the main glass closest to the hinge for the printer's top. And then a few more seconds to be sure I was looking at the right thing to clean at the bottom of the long, narrow gap in the scanning head (actually looks like glass

It eventually shows a "Scanner Error" which I understand from google means "replace the scanner assembly" (which costs more than a new printer).Does anyone know of a way that hp laserjet 3380 scanner error power on power off I can bypass the scanner post, or get it to pass so I can use this as hp 3380 scanner bulb warming up a regular printer? It prints perfectly up until the point in the post that the "Scanner Error" generates.Any ideas would be appreciated. Jim Respond to hp laserjet 3055 scanner bulb warming up error solution this 0 I've fixed a few of those with the following document. You have to be patient and maybe do it a few times, but it does work.http://h20000.www2.hp.com by moe on Apr 17, 2005 at 1:47pm Add comment Please sign in https://statusq.org/archives/2008/01/21/1745/ to comment 0 I tried both of those. I was able to upgrade the firmware to the latest on the website. I walked the scanner head all the way over to the left until the stepper started slipping because it couldn't go any further. I disassembled the scanner assembly and cleaned the mirrors, as well as trying to position it under the registration strip on the inside of the scanner. No luck.I assume as part of the startup process it moves the http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/28576 head right and left looking for the registration strip. I only ever see it move to the left. So it could be a problem with the stepper motor or it could be a problem with the logic board (or other scanner related things). So I am hoping that I can somehow disable the scanner and just use the printer part (it works fine as long as the print job comes out before the post finishes).Any other ideas?Jim by jb6z on Apr 18, 2005 at 9:50am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 My company owns a few 3300s, and I've had this problem with 2 of them. Every time the error comes up, I disassemble the scanner assembly. While I've got it disassembled, I clean the mirrors with glass cleaner, and also clean the inside of the glass (including the area that has the registration strip under it). This has thankfully fixed the problem for me every time. From what I understand, if cleaning the glass and mirrors doesnt work, you most likely have a problem with the scanner logic board. One thing to check, did you clean the front and backs of all of the mirrors that have them both exposed? Unfortunately I dont have any other tricks up my sleeve concerning these guys.-Jock by Jock Shirey on Apr 18, 2005 at 12:45pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I know I'm coming along on a very cold trail -- three y

ALL-IN-ONE Printer Error Codes and Support Error: Scanner Bulb Failure Error Description: The scanner assembly experienced an error in scanner bulb functionality. Solution: Turn off the power by using the power switch, wait at least 30 seconds, and then turn on the power and wait for the product to initialize. Try another power source. If the error persists, lift the flatbed to see if the scanner bulb is illuminating. If it is not illuminating, replace the scanner assembly. See, Scanner assembly. If the bulb is illuminating, the scan module may be too far to the right to find the calibration strip during startup. Follow this procedure to move the scan module so it begins the startup cycle farther to the left: 1. Cycle the power and watch the movement of the scan module. The scan module will move to the left and the bulb will illuminate. When it does, cycle the power. 2. Repeat the first step until the scan module is about 3 centimeters (about 1 inch) from the right edge of the scan glass. 3. Turn on power by using the power switch. If the error persists, replace the scanner assembly. See, Scanner assembly.
