Since then, I've started heating the whole board in the over at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. That yields much better, longer lasting results. At least it has on the JetDirect cards I've used it on. Put the board in component side up and http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/laser/55786 support each corner on something to keep it off the baking sheet or whatever you use. Remove carefully from the oven and let it cool for awhile. This is for after the service note expires. If HP is replacing the boards, better to do it that way. by moe on Dec 31, 2008 at 11:33am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 The formatter may be the problem. If it has the Toshiba chip at the top left of formatter, HP will replace it. by unknown on May 1, 2008 at 10:16am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I can't seem to find any documentation on how to remove the formatter so that I can see if it has this Toshiba chip. The manual has two entries for formatter and neither one are helpful. I also searched HP's site with no success. Does anyone have access to "HOW" to get to the formatter? Thanks. by frieste on May 2, 2008 at 9:15am Add comment Please sign in to comment Does nobody have any information on how to take this thing apart? I can't find anything in the documentation and am hesitant to just start pulling it apart. Any help would be appreciated. - frieste 0 If you c
messages saying RFU LOAD ERRORSEND RFU NOW on power up .ectCan anybody shed any light on these problems.I have tried removing the battery from the formater cardbut no joy. Is there any issues with these boards. Please http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/54166 help. Respond to this 1 Boy, I am going to try the heat gun http://www.printerworks.com/Catalogs/HP-LaserJet-P3005/154_LJP3005.html or hair dryer on my jetdirect 615 cards that are out of the serial # range for the free HP replacement & report back on it. I don't have any 3005's to work on but, I know a hospital that recently bought about 30 of them. --- On calling HP direct --- in 13 years I have only once paid hp laserjet them for support & it was a joke. A good warranty center can run a claim on a printer with no human interaction & it is a lot easier for them to help you & get paid from HP for it. Years ago there was a known issue like this that if you called HP they said they didn't know about any service note & sorry it was out of warranty & some local warranty hp laserjet p3005 centers said the same thing. Sadly, many customers believe this stuff. We became HP certified in the product with the problems & shortly after started helping a very big company with THOUSANDS of failing equipment. Other warranty centers were already charging them for the repairs & when we came in we were able to fix you guessed it -- THOUSANDS of machines at no cost to the customer & HP picked up the whole tab. We were tickled pink or green $$ you might say & so was our customer. They trusted HP then & bought another $ million worth of HP stuff. This issue should also be covered. by unknown on Apr 11, 2008 at 10:51pm Add comment Please sign in to comment I called 5 service centers. They all meant that I have to pay for the new board. So I called HP directly. HP said the same. The service coworker spoke only broken German. I think the callcenter is somewhere in Eastern Europe. *grr* But he was friendly. He said there is a problem with the formatter board and gave me also the part number of a new board. He meant I can replace the old Q7847-60001 with the new Q7848-61002 board. - Haelge 0 Read further down the thread for a free 10 minute repair for the problem
