Interface Error -16434 The Connection Is Not Stable Started by digitalsylvie , Feb 23 2009 09:10 AM Please log in to reply 8 replies to this topic #1 digitalsylvie digitalsylvie Newbie Members 5 posts Posted 23 February 2009 - 09:10 AM I've been trying to use Toast Titanium 10 and get the same error each and every time I attempt to burn a disc. I've tried 5 brands of discs and the problem it the same. I'm burning with Disk Utility just fine, every time. I uninstalled Toast 10 (and trashed all prefs) and reinstalled Toast 9 and get the same error and no burn. I applied all updates to Toast 9 and tried again. Now I'm getting a Kernel Panic on each and every burn. I've been a loyal Roxio customer for many years, what's going on Roxio? At what point does the error occur? The error message you're reporting sometimes comes up when burning to certain brands of dual-layer DVDs. Is that true in your case? I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon! Hardware or Software Error Message ? pmsphoto Fresh-Faced Recruit Join Date:Oct 2007 Status: Offline Mar 29, 2008, 12:43 PM Suddenly my http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/49330-interface-error-16434-the-connection-is-not-stable/ relatively new MacBook Pro* has decided to stop burning CDs and DVDs for some reason. The reasons it tells me are: "The drive reported an error Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03" and later "Interface Error - 16434 The connection is not stable" Now, I don't have time to trawl through hundreds of drive error posts here or to lose my laptop for two weeks (it's still under warranty) http://forums.macnn.com/69/mac-notebooks/365186/hardware-or-software-error-message/ for a fifteen minute repair. Does anyone immediately know whether these are a drive (a standard MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857E) or perhaps problems with the software Toast Titanium 8.0.3 ? I am searching the web while you read this, but would rather replace a failing drive immediately than spend days finding a solution only to have to replace the drive anyway. Any immediate help would be appreciated...before again Cheers, Pete. *2.4GHz Intel Core Duo 2 c/w 4Gb 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM and running OS X 10.5.2 View Public Profile Find More Posts by pmsphoto mduell Posting Junkie Join Date:Oct 2005 Location:Houston, TX Status: Offline Mar 29, 2008, 05:16 PM What part of this makes you think it's not a hardware problem? It sounds like a cable is perhaps loose? If it's under warranty, take it in to Apple, they'll run their magic View Public Profile Visit imitchellg5's homepage! I know the person I bought it from changed it from combo to superdrive. It does burn dvd but only sometimes form idvd or toast 6. When it does burn the dvd I can only watch interface error 16434 it on my labtop or on a 5 dvd changer dvd player, it won't work on my ps2. I am useing dvd-r. The toast error massage is "interface Error: -16434 The connection is not stable." I think its saying the dvd drive needs to be pluged in more. Please help me. It sounds like either they used a 3rd party superdrive or the didn't connect the drive correctly. If the cable is loose then a little vibration form the drive or a fan could cause a bad connection. I would check in the System Profilier under disk burning to see if the drive was Apple Shipped/ Supported or if it says 3rd party driver or unsupported. if its 3rd party you can get the model of the superdrive and do a google search and see if there is anyone who had luck with your model. I think there is a 3rd party software called patchburn that adds support for 3rd party drives. http://www.geekstreamonline.com Reply With Quote 12-06-2006,10:12 AM #3 CAMERA MAN View Profile View Forum Posts Visit Hom

When I put in a blank dvd, the disk spins for a short while then pops out. I have tried with different disks with the same result, any ideas. Are you sure it can write to DVD? If you have a Combo drive it will play DVDs but not write to them.Assuming you have checked this, have a look at the CD/DVDs pane of your System Preferences. This is where you set the behaviours the Finder uses when you insert media.
