unthreaded | newestfirst tribes » Computers & Internet » Mac OS X » topics » "Interface Error -50: The connection is not stable," error when burning DVD topic posted Mon, May 1, 2006 - 6:59 AM by Unsubscribed I am using Toast (latest version) http://osx.tribe.net/thread/a3e08e9d-28ac-45b2-9e2d-40ac7e33e0f2 on a G4 with an external burner. I burned a CD, then a DVD with video content. I then attempted to burn another DVD with different video content and got the message: "Interface Error -50: The connection is not stable," Rebooting didn't solve the problem, nor did putting in a new DVD disk. Has anyone encountered the problem and found a solution? Thanks! posted by: Unsubscribed join to post Advertisement Jory 75 Re: "Interface Error -50: The connection is not stable," error when interface error burning DVD Mon, May 1, 2006 - 8:27 AM I've not seen this error before, but here's something to try: you can make a disc image in Toast prior to burning and sometimes the same issues show up without making a coaster. To do this, do everything as you normally would, but instead of hitting the "Record" button, hit Cmd-D to save as a disc image. Once the disc image is done, Get Info on the image file that you saved, lock it, interface error connection and then double-click it to open up in Toast. Now click the "Record" button and see what happens. Another thing to try is burn the disc (or disc image) from a different hard drive and see what happens. join to post Vicious 268 Re: "Interface Error -50: The connection is not stable," error when burning DVD Mon, May 1, 2006 - 11:28 AM Maybe the hard drive is fragmented or has too little free space? join to post Unsu... Re: "Interface Error -50: The connection is not stable," error when burning DVD Mon, May 1, 2006 - 1:45 PM I tried with iDVD, and it said I was trying to burn to PAL format. I don't know why. It's just a bunch of FujiFilm DVDs from Frys. At any rate, I went to BestBuy and got a stack of Memorex DVDs, and it's working now. Thanks to you all for your help. join to post the rev 17 Re: "Interface Error -50: The connection is not stable," error when burning DVD Mon, May 1, 2006 - 6:42 PM You said "external" burner. To me this is likely a port or cable problem. A loose cable connection or a fritzy port (jack/socket) could cause what you experienced. It could even (¿maybe?) confuse the software as to the type/status/format of the disc or burner. I predict that your problem may reappear. join to post Jory 75 Re: "Interface Error -50: The connection is not stable," error when
